The issue was highlighted on Twitter by BBC Technology Correspondent Rory Cellan-Jones:

The NHS has provided a web page for users who are experiencing the problem. It recommends that users:

  • Close the NHS COVID-19 App
  • Open Settings
  • Tap General > Reset
  • Tap Reset Location and Privacy
  • Re-open the app and accept the permissions
