The Schneider Home Smart Thermostat will not be part of Apple Home Collection’s December launch. In its own release, Schneider Electric says customers in the U.S. and Canada “can purchase Smart Thermostat and the accompanying Room Sensors in the Apple Store beginning early next year,” which puts the $199.95 (U.S.) thermostat in early 2027.

Apple’s Apple Home Collection press release says availability begins in December, “with select accessories available starting early 2027,” but it does not say which accessories fall into that later group. Schneider Electric’s release is the first to name products in it.
What Schneider Electric’s release says about timing
Schneider Electric’s announcement, distributed through GlobeNewswire on October 13, covers two product groups with different dates:

- Smart Thermostat and Room Sensors: on sale in the Apple Store in the U.S. and Canada “beginning early next year.”
- Power Mounts for Apple HomeView (Wall Mounted): the USB-C Wall Connector and AC Wired versions can be ordered on Apple.com, with Apple Retail Store availability “beginning Friday, November 13.” The PoE Wired Power Mount follows “early next year.”
So two of the Schneider Home mounts for HomeView reach stores before the thermostat does. We covered the mounts in our HomeView (Wall Mounted) mounts story.
Apple’s own store pages for the Schneider Home Smart Thermostat and the Schneider Home Room Sensor currently say “Coming later. Check back for availability.” The release does not give a date for Schneider Home’s C-Wire Adapter or Trim Plate.

Price: Apple’s $199.95, Schneider’s $199.99
The two companies list slightly different numbers. Apple prices the thermostat at $199.95 (U.S.) and the Room Sensor at $39.95 (U.S.), both on its store pages and in its press release. Schneider Electric’s release gives a “suggested MSRP of $199.99” for the thermostat and “$39.99” for the Room Sensor.
Since the thermostat is sold through Apple, Apple’s figures are the ones to plan around:
| Item | Apple U.S. price | Schneider’s suggested MSRP | When, per Schneider |
|---|---|---|---|
| Schneider Home Smart Thermostat | $199.95 | $199.99 | Early 2027 |
| Schneider Home Room Sensor | $39.95 | $39.99 | Early 2027 |
| Schneider Home Smart Thermostat C-Wire Adapter, 24V | $24.95 | Not listed | Not stated |
| Schneider Home Smart Thermostat Trim Plate | $14.95 | Not listed | Not stated |
Apple says the thermostat comes in Silver + White and the Room Sensor in White, both for the U.S. and Canada. Our thermostat launch story covers Adaptive Temperature and how the Schneider model compares with LG’s.
NFC setup works without power
One detail appears only in Schneider Electric’s release. It describes “effortless tap-to-pair NFC functionality even when Smart Thermostat is not powered, allowing set up in seconds by simply bringing an iPhone nearby.”
In practice, that means the pairing step does not have to wait until the thermostat is wired up and the HVAC breaker is back on. Apple’s fine print still applies: the store page says setup “Requires iPhone running the latest operating system software for NFC pairing and local control.”
The release also says that “With Matter compliance and Thread, the system remains connected to the home network even during an internet outage.” Apple’s store page lists the thermostat’s connections as “Matter over Thread, Wireless.”
Other details from the release
Schneider Electric describes a “small metal bezel” with “a smooth silver finish” and a “translucent display” with “a soft matte face with no glare.” Apple’s store page adds that presence sensing wakes the LCD “when you’re near” and dims it “when you walk away.”
On energy, Schneider Electric says the thermostat “works with the Clean Energy Guidance feature from Apple, using EnergyKit to power the grid forecast feature in the Apple Home app.” Its footnote adds that EnergyKit “is only available in the contiguous United States” and “requires iOS 26 or iPadOS 26 or later.” Apple’s release likewise limits Clean Energy Guidance to the contiguous U.S.
For people who do not want to wire it themselves, the release notes that Apple Retail’s third-party installation from ADT “leverages the nationwide installer network from Qmerit, backed by Schneider Electric.” Apple says that service carries an additional charge and is U.S. only.
Olivier Blum, CEO of Schneider Electric, said in the company’s release: “The smartest home is one where every part works together, and that’s only possible through technology that enables energy intelligence.”
Schneider Electric also says “more details will be shared at the 2027 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.”
What this means if you are shopping now
If you want an Apple Home Collection thermostat in time for winter, the Schneider Home model will not be one of the December options, according to its maker. LG’s Smart Thermostat is the other choice at the same $199.95 (U.S.) price, though Apple’s store page for it also reads “Coming later,” and neither Apple nor LG has said whether it ships in December or early 2027.
Anyone set on the Schneider Home model can plan the extras now. The Room Sensor at $39.95 measures temperature and humidity and, according to Apple’s store page, runs “Up to 3 years” on a coin-cell battery. The $24.95 C-Wire Adapter is “Only needed in homes with no common wire,” and the $14.95 Trim Plate covers wall damage left by an old thermostat.
