Siri AI FAQ: English First, Five Languages in October, and the EU Gap

Siri AI ships as a beta on Monday, September 14, in English only, with French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish following in October on no specific day Apple has named. Six more questions people keep asking are answered directly on Apple’s own Siri and Apple Intelligence pages.

The European Union carve-out is where most of the confusion sits, because Apple names three operating systems, not one, and quietly lets two other platforms through. What follows is what Apple’s own newsroom release and product pages say, without filling in anything they leave blank.

ItemWhat Apple publishes
Status at launchBeta, in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27 and visionOS 27
First languageEnglish only
Languages added in OctoberFrench, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, no day given
Minimum ageNot available to users under 13
EU availabilityNot on iOS, iPadOS or watchOS; available on macOS and visionOS

Is Siri AI ready on day one, or still being tested

It is a beta, by Apple’s own description, available in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27 and visionOS 27, rolling out September 14 for anyone with a supported device set to English. Apple Watch owners get it in a later watchOS 27 beta rather than at launch, according to Apple’s developer materials, which is a separate timeline from the other four platforms.

Which language does Siri AI speak first, and what comes in October

Apple’s newsroom release states Siri AI arrives for users with a supported device set to English, with support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish coming in October. Apple has not attached a specific date within October to that rollout on any page it has published.

Why doesn’t Siri AI work in the EU on iPhone

Apple’s own explanation, from its June newsroom release, is that Siri AI will not be available initially in the EU in iOS, iPadOS and watchOS, a restriction Apple ties to interoperability requirements it says would force it to give rival assistants the same deep access to the system that Siri AI itself gets. Apple adds that it is working hard to find a path forward that preserves its users’ privacy and security, without offering a timeline for when that might happen.

Does Siri AI work anywhere in the EU

Yes, on two platforms Apple treats differently from the other three. Apple’s own wording states that EU users will be able to access Siri AI when set to a supported language on Mac and Apple Vision Pro, because Apple’s exclusion names only iOS, iPadOS and watchOS, not macOS or visionOS. An EU customer buying the new iPhone or a new Apple Watch this month gets a smaller version of the September 9 software story than an EU customer buying a Mac or a Vision Pro.

Is there an age limit, and what about China

Apple states plainly that Siri AI is not available to users under 13. On China, Apple has published nothing at all: no date, no partial rollout, no regulatory statement, on apple.com, in its newsroom, or in its developer or support documentation, even though Apple names China as a launch market for iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo hardware pre-orders.

What Apple has not said

Apple has not given a specific October date for the five additional languages, has not published anything about Siri AI in China, and has not said when or whether the EU exclusion on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS will lift.

As of September 12, 2026, Siri AI is two days from its English-only beta launch, part of the wider September 9 announcement. The date to watch next is whichever day in October Apple actually attaches to French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish support, since it has only committed to the month so far.
