“I turned most of the book in this past June. It’s now all done and edited,” Mr. Isaacson told Fortune. “The March 2012 date (or whatever date it was) was never a deeply-considered pubdate. Like the original cover design, it came about because the publisher wanted to put something in the database last spring.”

Speculation that the release date was pushed up to November because Mr. Job’s health was failing, according to Mr. Isaacson, was completely unfounded. “It’s actually not related to any decline” in Mr. Jobs’s health, he said.

The biography was written with Mr. Jobs’s blessing and includes content based on forty interviews over a two year window with the CEO, along with interviews of over 100 family members, friends, colleagues and competitors.

Barnes & Noble confirmed with The Mac Observer that the date was pushed to November, too. Apple’s iBookstore is now showing the new release date, but Amazon.com still lists March 6, 2012.
