TikTok now lets Apple Music users play full songs inside the app

TikTok and Apple have introduced a new feature that lets Apple Music subscribers play full songs directly inside the TikTok app. When users discover a track while scrolling the For You page or viewing sound details, they can tap a “Play Full Song” button and start listening immediately through an embedded Apple Music player. The feature keeps users inside TikTok while they move from short video discovery to full song playback.

Once playback begins, Apple Music continues the listening experience with a personalized stream of recommended tracks. Users can also save songs to their Apple Music library or add them to playlists from the same screen. This setup connects TikTok’s music discovery engine with Apple Music’s full streaming catalog, allowing listeners to go deeper into songs they find through short videos.

According to an announcement from TikTok and Apple Music, the companies built the feature using Apple’s MusicKit framework. This approach keeps streaming activity within Apple Music, which means artists and rights holders receive payment for each stream through the normal Apple Music system.

Play Full Song connects discovery with full listening

The Play Full Song button appears when TikTok users encounter music while browsing. Tapping it opens a built-in Apple Music player that runs inside the TikTok interface, so users continue listening without switching apps.

“Tapping into the music you love should feel effortless,” said Apple Music executive Ole Obermann.

That idea appears throughout the feature design, since TikTok often drives viral music trends while streaming platforms handle long-form listening.

New Listening Party feature for fans and artists

TikTok and Apple Music also introduced a feature called Listening Party. It allows artists and fans to gather in real time and listen to songs together while interacting through chat.

“TikTok is where music discovery and culture move at the speed of the community,” said Tracy Gardner, Global Head of Music Business Development at TikTok.

Both Play Full Song and Listening Party will roll out globally over the coming weeks. Users need the latest TikTok version on iPhone and an active Apple Music subscription to access the features.
