What season 2 is about

Season one followed Carlotta and Dedo Klatt, played by Makatsch and Stein, as they hunted for their missing daughter. Season two flips the premise. According to Apple, just as the Klatts thought their lives were finally returning to normal, Wanda (Drinda) “is caught seemingly red-handed standing over a dead body.”

Apple says the parents “will need to do everything in their power to prove her innocence and avoid losing her again.” Their search for the real murderer takes them “into the criminal underbelly of their sleepy suburban town.”

That is the extent of the official setup. Apple has not released per-episode synopses for season two yet, so we will not guess at where the story goes.

Apple’s announcement lists the returning leads and a long list of additions to the ensemble.

  • Heike Makatsch, an International Emmy Award nominee
  • Axel Stein, a German Comedy Award winner
  • Lea Drinda as Wanda
  • Leo Simon
  • Nikeata Thompson

Apple says the season two ensemble also includes Sam Riley, Alexandra Maria Lara, Harriet Herbig-Matten, Gisa Flake, David Schütter, Palina Rojinski, Suzanne von Borsody, Kostja Ullmann, Devid Striesow, Frederic Balonier, Sascha Geršak, Torben Liebrecht, Aaron Maldonado-Morales and Anton Dreger.

Who makes the show

“Where’s Wanda?” comes from UFA Fiction, a Fremantle company. Season two is created, written and executive produced by Oliver Lansley, a Royal Television Society nominee known for “Flack,” alongside executive producers Nataly Kudiabor and Oliver Ossege.

Zoltan Spirandelli co-created the series, which is based on a story by him. Tobi Baumann and Christian Ditter direct. Ditter’s credits include “How To Be Single,” and Baumann’s include “Faking Hitler.”

A quick season one refresher

Season one premiered with two episodes, “The Klatts” and “The Hessels,” on October 2, 2024. In the opener, Apple’s synopsis says, “When their missing daughter’s shirt turns up in a neighborhood donation bin, Carlotta and Dedo come up with a wild idea to find her.”

Each episode was named after a family on the street, from “The Roths” to “The Vinsons” and “The Novaks.” The season ended with “Wandafest” on November 13, 2024, which Apple describes as the moment the Klatts “set out on their mission” during the festival.

Apple says season one scored a perfect 100 percent critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, and its press materials quote reviews praising “a unique blend of dark comedy and suspense.”
