iTunes Wish List is Going Away: How to Save Your Movies and TV Shows

iTunes Wish List

Apple is preparing to remove the old iTunes Wish List for movies and TV shows. This feature lets users save titles they plan to buy or rent later. Many people still use it as a simple reminder list. That option will soon disappear, and Apple is asking users to move their saved titles before access ends.

The change affects customers who still have movies or TV shows saved in their iTunes Wish List, also known as Favorites on tvOS. Apple continues to run the iTunes Store for purchases, but streaming and discovery now live mainly inside Apple Music and the Apple TV app. As part of that shift, the Wish List feature no longer fits Apple’s current setup.

In an email sent to customers, Apple explains the decision clearly. The message says, “Your iTunes Wish List of movies and shows is going away soon and will no longer be accessible.” Apple also confirms that the feature “will no longer be accessible on Apple platforms.” The company does not share a specific removal date, but the wording signals that the shutdown is close.

To help users keep their saved titles, Apple includes a PDF with the email. That file lists every movie and TV show from the user’s Wish List. Each title comes with a direct link. When users open a link and tap the plus button, the item moves to the Apple TV Watchlist. Once added, those titles appear in the Continue Watching row on the Apple TV app home screen.

How to move your iTunes Wish List items

The process is manual but simple. Users need to open the email from Apple, download the attached PDF, and tap each link one by one. Apple says no action is required if users do not care about saving the list. However, once the feature is removed, the old Wish List will not be accessible again.

This is not the first time Apple tried to remove the feature. With iOS 17.2, TV show and movie wish lists disappeared without warning. That move caused backlash from users who had built long lists over the years. Apple restored the feature in iOS 17.3, but only as a temporary step. Now the company is giving notice and a clear path forward.

Apple’s broader goal is consolidation. Since iOS 17.2, the Apple TV app has become the only place to buy movies and TV shows on iOS devices. Removing iTunes Wish Lists closes the loop on that transition. For users, the key takeaway is simple. Check your email, open the PDF, and move your titles before the Wish List is gone for good.
