Apple Event on October 13: Everything We Know So Far

Apple appears to have another major hardware launch planned for October, with October 13 now emerging as the key date. Bloomberg reports that Apple plans to introduce an all-new smart home hub, a second-generation HomePod mini, and a refreshed Apple TV 4K on Tuesday, October 13.

However, Apple has not announced an October 13 event yet. Its Newsroom currently contains no invitation or event announcement for that date, so it remains unclear whether Apple will hold a traditional keynote, publish prerecorded videos, or announce the products through press releases.

The reported October launch focuses heavily on Apple’s smart home lineup, with Siri AI expected to connect the three products.

The most important product would be Apple’s new smart home hub, often referred to unofficially as the HomePad. Apple has reportedly developed tabletop and wall-mounted versions with a square display designed for Home controls, video calls, media playback and Siri. Our earlier HomePad October launch report covers the expected hardware and software in more detail.

Apple could also introduce a dedicated home operating system alongside the device. Current reports describe an interface borrowing elements from iOS, tvOS and watchOS, with widgets, clock faces and household controls. We previously covered what this new Apple home operating system could look like.

Why an Apple Event on October 13 makes sense

The date became more interesting after John Gruber suggested Apple could hand out iPhone Duo review units to selected reviewers around October 13 or 14. The iPhone Duo reaches customers on October 23, making that week a logical window for Apple to provide early review hardware in person.

A media event would also give Apple room to demonstrate its new home hub, especially because the device reportedly introduces a new interface and product category rather than simply upgrading existing hardware.

For now, October 13 looks increasingly credible as Apple’s next launch date, but the distinction matters: Apple has reportedly scheduled new products for that day, while an actual Apple Event remains unconfirmed. If Apple plans a keynote, an official invitation should provide the final answer before October 13.
