The iPhone 18 Pro carries four cameras: three 48MP Fusion cameras on the back and an 18MP Center Stage camera on the front. The iPhone Duo also carries four: two 48MP rear cameras, a 12MP Center Stage camera on its outer display and an under-display FaceTime camera on its inner display. Apple’s tech specs now list the focal length and aperture for every one of them.
Laid side by side, the two phones share a lot more than the headline telephoto gap suggests. The Ultra Wide is identical, the main cameras differ by 2 mm and a fraction of a stop, and the real divergence is in what sits third and fourth. Main cameras: 24 mm variable aperture vs 26 mm f/1.6
Both main cameras are 48MP Fusion sensors, but the lenses differ. The iPhone 18 Pro’s is 24 mm with a variable aperture that steps through f/1.48, f/1.8, f/2.8 and f/4.0. The Duo’s is a slightly tighter 26 mm at a fixed f/1.6, with sensor-shift OIS.
At its widest, the Pro is fractionally brighter, f/1.48 against f/1.6. The Pro can also stop down to f/4.0 for deeper focus, something the Duo cannot do at all. Apple’s press release gives the Duo one feature the Pro’s spec list does not mention: zero shutter lag on the main camera.
The Ultra Wide is the one camera that is identical. Apple states outright that the Duo’s Ultra Wide matches the iPhone 18 Pro’s. The specs agree: 48MP, 13 mm, f/2.2, 120-degree field of view on both. Whatever else separates the phones, the 0.5x shot will be the same.
Telephoto: 100 mm f/2.8 on the Pro, nothing on the Duo
The iPhone 18 Pro’s third rear camera is a 48MP Fusion Telephoto with a 100 mm lens at f/2.8, built as a tetraprism and stabilized by 3D sensor-shift OIS. Apple lists a 12MP 8x crop at 200 mm from the same sensor, giving the Pro a 16x optical-quality zoom range.
The Duo has no third rear camera. Apple describes an integrated optical-quality 2x telephoto, which is a 12MP crop of the 26 mm main sensor, then digital zoom to 10x. The Duo’s optical zoom range is 4x.
Front cameras: 18MP f/1.9 vs 12MP f/2.2 plus an under-display camera
On the front, the iPhone 18 Pro has a single 18MP Center Stage camera at f/1.9. The Duo splits the job in two. Its outer display carries a 12MP Center Stage camera at f/2.2 that records 4K Dolby Vision at 24 to 60 fps, and its inner display hides an under-display FaceTime camera at f/1.8 that records 1080p at 30 to 60 fps.
The Duo’s front cameras are also where its exclusive features live. Duo Preview shows the subject a live preview on the outer display, Kid Cue plays animations there to hold a child’s attention, and Duo FaceTime lets nearby friends join a call on the outer display.
