iOS 26.4 Problems Reported by iPhone Users After Installing the Update

iOS 26.4 Problems: List of Bugs iPhone Users Are Reporting After Update

Apple released iOS 26.4 on March 24, 2026, with build number 23E246. The update brings new Apple Music features, new emoji, accessibility changes, and one fix Apple highlighted by name: improved keyboard accuracy when typing quickly. That last point matters, because typing bugs had become one of the biggest complaints around iOS 26 before this release.

But once iOS 26.4 landed, discussion quickly shifted from what Apple fixed to what still feels broken. The pattern so far is clear: keyboard accuracy looks better for many people, while age verification, lag, Wi-Fi issues, UI glitches, Screen Time problems, and a few device-specific bugs are still getting flagged. Most of these reports are anecdotal, not confirmed by Apple, but they are widespread enough to track.

Apple on iOS 26.4 fixes

Before getting into the complaints, it helps to start with the one issue Apple explicitly addressed. In the official iOS 26.4 notes, Apple says the update improves keyboard accuracy when typing quickly. This was a major fix by Apple, as dropped letters and missed keystrokes had become a major frustration in earlier iOS 26 builds. Early user feedback suggests Apple did improve that specific behavior, even if not every keyboard-related annoyance is gone.

That means this article is not a list of bugs Apple officially acknowledged. It is a roundup of what users are still reporting after the stable iOS 26.4 rollout, with the exact thread or forum noted for each problem.

1. UK age verification is the biggest iOS 26.4 complaint right now

This is easily the most specific and most repeated iOS 26.4 issue tied directly to the update. Apple introduced age verification in the UK with iOS 26.4, and official Apple support documentation says adults can confirm age with a credit card or by scanning ID. If age is not confirmed, web content filtering and Communication Safety can be turned on automatically.

Here’s where users say things are going wrong:

  • Apple Support Community: “Age verification failed on iOS 26.4”
The thread says the process was not accepting a bank card, passport, or provisional license. Another Apple Support result notes that in the UK, accepted options are a credit card or driving licence, not debit cards or passports. That gap between what users try and what Apple accepts seems to be creating immediate confusion.
  • Apple Support Community: “Unable to confirm my age after iOS upgrade”
One user on an iPhone 14 Pro Max says they cannot confirm they are no longer a teenager after updating, and the reply directly asks whether they are in the UK and points to the new rules there.
  • Apple Support Community: “iPhone: Age verification in settings after iOS 26.4”
This thread shows that some users saw the new prompt immediately in Settings after updating, which adds to the sense that this is not a niche change buried somewhere in the system.
  • Reddit r/ios: “IOS 26.4 age verification debacle. UK.”
The user says they spent around 40 minutes trying to verify their age. Their complaint is very specific: the credit card route pushed them to approve the action in a banking app, but the screen stayed locked on the age verification page, making it difficult. They also said they did not have a driving licence and assumed a passport would work, which created another roadblock.

What this means is simple. For many users in the UK, iOS 26.4 is not just another feature update. It is the update that introduced a new account-level friction point, and that is generating more noise than any other single complaint right now.

2. Lag, stutter, and freezing are still being reported

Performance complaints are the second major theme. Some users say iOS 26.4 feels smoother than earlier builds, but others say lag is still there, especially on older supported models or when doing heavier UI tasks like wallpaper editing.

The most direct reports include these:

  • Reddit r/iphone: “iPhone 13 performance in iOS 26.4 absolutely atrocious”
The user says editing wallpaper on an iPhone 13 causes heavy lag and sometimes freezes or crashes. This is one of the clearest stable-release complaints tied specifically to iOS 26.4 rather than the broader iOS 26 cycle.
  • Apple Support Community: “iPhone update 26.4 is slow”
A user says their iPhone 17 became slow after the update. The reply suggests waiting because background processing may still be happening, which fits Apple’s own warning that software updates can temporarily affect performance and battery life.
  • Reddit r/ios: “iOS 26.4 is fine they said”
In that thread, one commenter says their phone is “extremely laggy,” while another says post-update indexing can cause heat or lag for a day or two. This is important because it shows two things at once: there are real complaints, but some may ease after background indexing finishes.
  • Reddit r/iphone: “If your iPhone is slow & laggy after updating to iOS 26 try turning off Apple Intelligence”
The user says disabling Apple Intelligence fixed the lag for them. That does not prove Apple Intelligence is the root cause, but it shows some users are experimenting with settings because iOS 26.4 still feels sluggish on their devices.
  • MacRumors Forums: “iOS 26.4 Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements”
Some users in the thread say the update feels smoother, but others still mention Home Screen stuttering, slight icon fade-in while flicking through pages, and the return of the icon redraw bug.

This part of the story matters because it keeps the article honest. iOS 26.4 is not a disaster for everyone. Some users say it is the best iOS 26 build yet. Still, performance complaints have clearly not disappeared.

3. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues are still popping up

Connectivity issues are another area where users are still posting fresh complaints after updating to iOS 26.4. Apple’s earlier iOS 26.0.1 release had already fixed some Wi-Fi and Bluetooth disconnect issues on newer iPhones, so this remains a sensitive category for users watching iOS 26 closely.

Recent reports include:

  • Apple Support Community: “iPhone 17 Pro Max Wi-Fi dropping after iOS 26.4 update”
This thread was visible on the iPhone community page with multiple replies and over 100 views, showing that Wi-Fi dropouts after 26.4 are already being discussed.
  • Reddit r/ios: “Not able to connect to my home WiFi (Local Network) after updating to iOS 26.4”
The user says public Wi-Fi and personal hotspots still work, but their home network does not. They also say resetting network settings multiple times did not fix it.
  • Reddit r/ios: “26.4: Wifi and Bluetooth connection issues”
Search results show users linking fresh 26.4 complaints to both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth instability.
  • Reddit r/iOSBeta: “[iOS 26.4 PB1] WiFi/Bluetooth turns on/off by itself”
This was a beta-stage issue, but it is still relevant because some connectivity bugs seen in beta can carry over in smaller ways to the public release.

This does not yet look like a single, universal Wi-Fi bug affecting every iPhone on iOS 26.4. It looks more scattered than that. Still, there are enough fresh reports to say connectivity remains one of the update’s trouble spots.

4. Some users say Screen Time still is not working properly

Screen Time is another area where iOS 26.4 has not fully cleared things up. One Apple Support Community thread stands out because the user says Apple support had already treated it as a software problem before the update, and the update still did not fix it.

  • Apple Support Community: “Screen time not showing app activities”
The user says they reported the issue, Apple’s software team was involved, and they were told to wait for the update. After installing iOS 26.4, the problem remained. That makes this one of the more credible post-update complaints because it includes a clear before-and-after timeline.

This is not getting the same attention as age verification or lag, but for affected users it is a functional bug, not just a cosmetic annoyance.

5. Visual glitches are still showing up

UI bugs remain part of the iOS 26 story, and some of them are still being mentioned after 26.4.

  • Apple Support Community: “iPhone 16 Pro: White circles issue resolved…”
A user says a previous issue with white circles appearing when tapping menu options had been fixed in 26.3, but returned after updating to iOS 26.4.
  • MacRumors Forums
Users mention icon fade-in when rapidly swiping Home Screen pages, the icon redraw bug showing up again, and continuing Home Screen stuttering.

These reports are not as serious as device crashes or failed connectivity, but they matter because they reinforce the bigger complaint users have had about iOS 26 as a whole: the interface still does not always feel fully polished.

6. Camera and accessory bugs are still being mentioned

Apple may have fixed typing, but some device-specific complaints are now getting attention in community threads.

  • Reddit r/ios under “iOS 26.4 Fixes iPhone Keyboard Accuracy Bug”
One commenter says light touch on Camera Control is broken in iOS 26.4 RC on iPhone 16 and says zoom no longer works regardless of setting. That report came from the RC stage, so it may not affect everyone on the final build, but it is one of the clearest camera-related complaints attached to 26.4.
  • Reddit r/iOSBeta: “[iOS 26.4 RC] USB-C port not talking to anything, will only charge”
That points to a possible accessory or port communication bug in the late beta cycle. Again, it is not enough to call this a widespread stable-release issue, but it is worth noting because it sits close to the public build.
  • Reddit r/iOSBeta: “[iOS 26.4 RC] Airplay dropping on app switching”
This report says audio streaming drops when switching apps. It is an iPad-focused complaint, but it shows that media handoff and accessory behavior may still be shaky in the 26.4 branch.

7. Battery drain and overheating are part of the discussion, but the evidence is mixed

Battery complaints always appear after major iPhone updates, so this category needs more caution. Apple itself says software updates can temporarily affect performance and battery life, especially while indexing and background processes finish.

Still, some users are directly tying heat and battery drain to iOS 26.4:

  • Apple Support Community: “iPhone 17 Pro Max overheating, Battery drain, and lagging After iOS 26.4 update”
The thread title alone shows this concern is being raised immediately after updating.
  • Reddit r/ios: “iOS 26.4 is fine they said”
One commenter says post-update indexing can cause heat and lag for a day or two, which lines up with Apple’s own guidance.

So far, the evidence here is weaker than the age verification issue. There are complaints, but they are still mixed with the usual post-update reindexing explanations.

8. The keyboard story is better, but not fully over

This is the oddest part of iOS 26.4. Apple clearly improved one keyboard bug, and many users agree. But a few people still say typing is not perfect.

  • Apple official notes say iOS 26.4 improves keyboard accuracy when typing quickly.
  • Reddit r/iOSBeta: “[iOS 26.4 RC] Apple has FINALLY fixed the iPhone keyboard bug in 26.4!”
This is the clearest sign that many testers saw a real fix.
  • The missing-characters issue looks largely fixed, but the emoji key problem may remain for some users.
  • Reddit r/iphone and r/ios also include people saying the keyboard is now much more stable, which helps explain why this article is about problems reported after the update, not a claim that iOS 26.4 is bad across the board.

Final take

The biggest iOS 26.4 problem right now is not the keyboard. Apple seems to have made real progress there. The loudest and most specific complaint is the UK age verification rollout, where users say the process is confusing, restrictive, and in some cases failing outright. After that, the most common complaints are lag, stutter, Wi-Fi trouble, Screen Time bugs, UI glitches, and scattered device-specific problems tied to camera controls, AirPlay, and accessories.

The fairest conclusion is that iOS 26.4 looks like a partial cleanup update, not a full reset for all of iOS 26’s rough edges. Some iPhones are clearly running better on 26.4. Others are still giving users reasons to complain, so if you are tracking whether Apple has fully stabilized iOS 26, the answer right now is no.

  • Phone constantly disconnects hearing aids so I can’t hear any sounds from the phone. I miss all message notifications.

  • i disabled some ai mass surveillance bloat settings and the next day BAM update that bricks your phone well played

  • I updated this morning. It’s stuck in ‘loading’ but I have no idea what it’s trying to load. I restarted the phone and still the same issue. My previous screensaver, nice, bright with flowers, has disappeared and I have a boring black screen. I’ve tried to prove my age, but not willing to allow access to my card details. I really don’t like this update and I wish there was a way around not updating because my phone was working perfectly before all this nonsense. Now I am stuck with a phone that’s permanently trying to ‘loading’ with what, I really cannot imagine, but I am extremely fed up. This means a trip into town so that someone who knows, or may know, their way around iPhones will be able to help me

  • After update : Spoke to Verizon Rep in a very rude voice I did, after I tried to send my friend a message from voice recognition and it sent it to someone else, who hadn’t spoken to in over two years. So embarrassing..
Then I followed maps thinking there must be an accident on the normal exit I take to the hairdresser. But no, it sent me in circles and I was 10 minutes late when I finally gave up and backtracked to my normal route. Is this what Apple expect to happen when they put out updated version of iOS along with all the other things I’ve read about?

  • Bluetooth connectivity is broken .. Can’t connect Roland Mood pan w Bluetooth or to Mood Pan plus app. Also my Bluetooth keyboard not connecting both worked before update .. dames Mac os

  • “Block Contact” does not work at all in all apps where blocking contacts is available. I tried every blocking option in Mail, Messages, Phone, Contacts, and manually adding contacts to the master Blocked Contacts list via Privacy and Security settings. In some cases blocking contacts options are not available, in others the options appear but blocking fails after using them -whether choosing one contact or selection of multiples. I learned blocked contacts lists are device-dependent — they are not synced between devices — & there is no way to select, copy, paste. I tried sharing a blocked contact from iPad anyway via email & text (hoping that process wasn’t working properly either), but neither was blocked when opened on I iPhone.
This is not a trivial problem. On bad days I receive 100+ total spam messages via Messages, phone calls, & 2 email accounts — approx ⅓ in texts. Now receiving more spam because multiples are getting through from contacts that would have been blocked after their first send.
Good to learn Blocked Contact lists aren’t synced, except for having to block them on each individual device.

    1. I have been having the exact same issues on my iPhone. I contacted Apple and the rep I spoke to was rather condescending which I did not appreciate. They told me that no one else has reported any of this type of issue.

  • OS26.4 disabled my tablet’s ability to access Verizon 4G LTE. There’s no signal at all. Verizon was able to restore it yesterday but when I tried it today it was gone again.

  • Live Translation is corrupted after upgrading to 26.4. On my iphone16 with Airpod 3 pro, the live translation app is playing the translated voice of the other person on the speaker of the phone instead of playing it in airpod. This is making the airpod irrelevant for live translation and can be same as conversation mode.

  • My heart rate monitor went crazy after the update giving me readings like 754 bpm, yes I’ve turned it on/off, cleaned the watch, wear the wrist band tight enough and in the correct position, I’ve had one of these watches for almost 10 years. This version 10 iwatch has been fine till now. Its definitely the update iOS 26.4

    1. Mine is having problems, too! Keeps disconnecting my medical implanted heart device and does not work in low power mode. I feel this was neglected in r&d on this latest 26! Also, it was not ready before implementation! Maybe they used AI to program or some children! Implement and let users do the research for their bugs?!?!?!???? Why is apple quality going down with no consideration on what this update will do or not do with no back dating for critical systems? Apple will lose customers. And their attitude is customers will keep coming back even though poor quality assurance!

  • Since updating to 26.4, Mail app doesn’t send blocked sender messages to Trash. They still appear in Junk, even though sender’s message is marked as blocked. New messages in Junk are marked as blocked, but no red icon appears indicating they have just been blocked. This is happening on both iPhone & iPad. Do better, Apple!

    1. I agree your email the red circle is not there but you’ go into it again it still says block. It does not say unblock so they not being blocked..

  • Siri and Voice Dictation has stopped working. Done all the recommended steps to fix the issue but no luck. Can’t even record a Voice Memo

  • Black screen, vibration every 2 seconds then stops until I press the start button on the side then the vibrations start over again. I tried hard reset and ver and over again even up to 2 minutes but still nothing. Just black screen and vibrations in sequence every two seconds. This all happened a few hours after the update.

  • Today I started having issues with the clock/time on my iPhone being an hour behind. Never had any issues prior to the latest update.

  • DONT UPDATE TO IOS 26.4. I updated and did the verification ok then all manor of thinks started happening some thinks I can no longer see such as telecoms bills and bluetooth keeps dropping out and wifi drops out then reconnects. This IOS update is a nightmare don’t update or you will now like me trying to find my way back. (my iphone 17 pro max)

    1. I wish I would’ve had read this before I downloaded the 26.4. I wish I could delete it and go back to where it was before.

      1. Amen! 26.4 is a DISASTER. It wreaks havoc with my Bluetooth-connected hearing aids. Missed notifications and lsts of connectivity.

  • After update 26.4 my mail & gmail won’t receive any new emails. Tried all the diy fixes from net. No email for 5 days now. Terrible update.

  • It is time for Apple to start solving its iOS problems. It is incredible that a company that once produced good software just doesn’t seem to succeed these days.
Previously, iOS was worth the premium price of an iPhone, but nowadays I seriously ask myself what I am still paying the premium price for.
I have always had the latest iPhones, but since the introduction of iOS 26 (liquid glass), I have not purchased the iPhone 17.

    1. The arrogance of the iphone company is astounding. Some how when you purchase a phone the powers that be think they still own it. If we stop buying iPhones for a year their listening to the buyers will improve. I don’t like the 26 ios at all. Every phone purchaser should be able to stay with the operating system they like then only get security updates.

  • iphone locked to owner, wont accept password or email address, keeps saying wrong and now locked out of my brand new phone.
