The iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone Duo share almost every radio: Wi-Fi 7 with 2×2 MIMO, Bluetooth 6, Thread, second-generation Ultra Wideband, NFC with reader mode and Apple’s C2 modem, according to Apple’s tech specs for both phones. The differences are in the SIM policy, the satellite services Apple lists, and the USB-C port speed Apple has confirmed for one phone but not the other.
Both phones get their Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Thread from Apple’s N1 chip and their cellular from the C2 modem, which Apple’s press release says uses 15 percent less energy than the C1X. The A20 Pro chip is shared too, so the connectivity comparison is about the details rather than the silicon.

Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, Thread and UWB: a dead heat
On the short-range radios there is nothing to choose between the two. Both list Wi-Fi 7 on the 802.11be standard with 2×2 MIMO, meaning two spatial streams for sending and two for receiving. Both list Bluetooth 6 and Thread, the low-power mesh protocol used by smart home accessories, and both come from the N1 chip. Apple has not published throughput figures for either phone.
Both also have second-generation Ultra Wideband, used for precision finding of AirTags and other iPhones, and NFC with reader mode for Apple Pay and tag reading. If your reason for choosing one phone over the other is wireless performance, Apple’s published specs give you no reason.
Cellular: the same C2 modem, one extra line for the Duo
Both phones use Apple’s C2 modem with mmWave 5G in the US. The Duo’s tech specs add two lines the 18 Pro summary does not: 5G sub-6 GHz alongside mmWave, and Gigabit LTE with 4×4 MIMO. That is almost certainly a difference in how much Apple has published rather than a difference in the hardware, since the modem is the same part, but we can only list what Apple has stated for each phone.
The Duo page also spells out three satellite services, Messages via satellite, Emergency SOS via satellite and Roadside Assistance via satellite, included free for two years. Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro tech specs summary does not itemise satellite services, so we are not listing them for that phone; our iPhone 18 Pro guide has everything Apple has published for it.
USB-C: 10 Gb/s confirmed for the Pro, unstated for the Duo
Apple’s tech specs give the iPhone 18 Pro a USB-C port with USB 3 at up to 10 Gb/s, fast enough for the ProRes 4K 120 fps external recording Apple lists for the phone. The Duo has a USB-C port and ships with the same 1 m USB-C cable, and Apple’s press release says Apple Pencil (USB-C) support arrives later in 2026, but Apple has not published the Duo’s data transfer speed.
eSIM: 12 countries for the Pro, everywhere for the Duo
This is the clearest difference. Both phones support dual eSIM with two active lines and storage for eight or more, per Apple. The iPhone 18 Pro is eSIM-only, with no SIM tray, in 12 countries and regions: Bahrain, Canada, Guam, Japan, Kuwait, Mexico, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the United States and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Everywhere else Apple sells it with a physical SIM slot alongside eSIM.
The iPhone Duo drops the tray in every country. Apple’s press release says it is eSIM-only worldwide with more than 500 supported carriers. For anyone in the UK, India, Australia or the EU who still relies on a physical SIM, that is a change the Pro does not force and the Duo does.
