Apple Adds Alchemy Synthesizer Support to Logic Pro X

Apple released Logic Pro X 10.2 on Tuesday with several new features, most notably support for Alchemy—a synthesizer plug-in with several sound generators. Logic Pro is Apple's professional audio editing application for the Mac.

Logic Pro X gets a serious update with Alchemy supportAlchemy is a sample manipulation synthesizer with additive, spectral, formant, granular, sampler, and virtual analog sound generators. It also includes more than 3,000 presets for different types of electronic music, keyword searches sounds, performance controls, the ability to combine up to four synth modules, and more.

Along with Alchemy, the 10.2 update includes the ability to combine samples via morphing and resynthesis tools, support for importing EXS24 instruments, the ability to apply independent arpeggiators, 1,000 new Apple Loops, improved syncing with external MIDI devices, and more.

Apple also updated MainStage 3 today with Alchemy support.

Logic Pro X is priced at US$199.99, and MainStage 3 costs $29.99 via the Mac App Store. The updates for both are free.
