Rumor: New Mac mini to Debut at Macworld Expo

TMO Talk (9)

The Macworld Expo rumor season is in full swing, and the latest tidbit to crop up on the Web shows a freshly redesigned Mac mini. An image that appeared at Macenstein shows a revamped version of Apple's tiny desktop Mac, presumably to be unveiled during Phil Schiller's keynote presentation at Macworld Expo on January 6.

Macenstein's anonymous Mac mini pic.

The image looks to be a photograph of a computer display showing an ad for a version of the Mac mini that more closely matches the recently updated MacBook, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, complete with beveled edges.

Since Apple doesn't comment on rumors or unannounced products, don't expect to hear anything out of Cupertino on this before Mr. Schiller's keynote.

Macworld Expo runs from January 5 through January 9, 2009, at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco. For additional information about the Expo and events, visit the Macworld Expo Web site.

Why does it look like it has a lid?

This is a photochop of the side view of a Macbook. There is an image very similar to it on the Apple website in the Macbook gallery.

I smell cunning Photoshoppery!

It looks vaguely like the alien spaceships from V, which is nice.

Perhaps it is not a MacMini per se. Maybe it is a semi-decapitated, headless, home server. Seriously a lot of folks are using the MacMini as a server and maybe the “lid” is a small monitor, kind of like a squarish MacBook.

Or just the top of the case to keep visual continuity with the other new releases.

If you go out to the Macenstein site they have a thumbnail of this image and the note “Click to embiggen.”

LOL Riot

Could be just a vent

“If you go out to the Macenstein site they have a thumbnail of this image and the note “Click to embiggen.“”

Yes, as Jebediah Springfield said “A noble spirit embiggens the smallest Macintosh.”

I dunno, I was kinda hoping, the new Mac Mini looked more like this:

That’s the Mac Pro Nano. A snip at $1995.

Macenstein has a new image up of this supposed mac mini with out a “lid.”
It’s another snapshot of a computer screen but from a different angle. You can see the apple.com link bar at the top and other links at the bottom.
