Apple recently rolled out its watchOS 8.8.2 update to keep older devices connected to iMessage and FaceTime, but things did not go as planned. Instead of a simple security patch, the update introduced several frustrating problems for people still using models like the Series 6 and SE.
Many users are now dealing with broken features, and it looks like the software is doing more harm than good right now.

Users face random crashes and fail to install new apps
People are going online to complain about their watches acting up. The most common problem is that folks cannot install applications. This includes basic tools made by Apple, like Maps and Weather. Some owners also report that their watches just shut down unexpectedly.
In one case, a watch crashed while fully charged, only to reboot and show a battery level of 80 percent. Even the classic trick of unpairing the watch from a phone and pairing it again is failing for a lot of users.
The company offers no quick fix or way to downgrade
Right now, there is no real way to solve these issues. Affected users have reached out to Apple support, but the company has not provided a permanent fix or explained what went wrong. To make things worse, you cannot just delete the update and go back to an older version of the operating system.
People stuck with these glitches will have to wait until Apple figures out the problem and pushes out another software patch to fix its mistake.
