WhatsApp Rolls out a Redesigned Media Share Menu for iPhone Users

WhatsApp adds Group Message History to help new members catch up

If you use WhatsApp on your phone, you might soon notice a slight change when you want to send a photo or video to a friend. The chat app is currently releasing a fresh update that changes how the attachment screen looks and feels. This change aims to make picking recent pictures much quicker while keeping your current conversation right in view. The company is steadily bringing this feature to more people after early testing.

The app introduces a swipeable grid for your recent photos

Usually, sending an image means tapping a plus icon to open a full-screen picker. That blocks your chat and takes you out of the moment. Now, the new layout adds a compact preview area right under the usual share icons. It shows a small grid of your newest pictures. You can simply swipe across this strip to find what you need.

If you cannot spot the right picture in that small view, scrolling to the end will open the complete gallery. You can also press and hold the plus button in the text box to pull this up instantly. This setup feels like a natural fit for iOS, where speed and ease of use matter a lot.

Not everyone will see this new screen right away. It is arriving with version 26.19.75, which you can grab from the App Store. However, the company is turning it on slowly to make sure it works well. It wants to test the performance before pushing it to every single person who owns an Apple device. If you do not have it yet, it should show up on your screen in the coming weeks.

By tweaking this small interaction, the app saves people a few taps every day. These tiny design changes add up over time to make texting a bit smoother and more natural.
