Snapchat is launching a brand new way to let friends know what you are listening to as it happens. Through a direct integration with Spotify, users can now broadcast their current music tracks straight to the Snap Map. The new feature aims to help people discover fresh artists through their daily contacts while making the location-based map a bit more personal and expressive.
Users can link their accounts to broadcast current song tracks
The new Now Playing feature lives directly inside the existing map interface. To get started, you simply connect your Spotify account through your profile settings or right from the map itself. Once linked, the platform pulls your active listening data and displays it to your chosen audience in real time.

If you see a friend listening to an interesting track, you can tap on it to explore short videos using that exact sound. You can also save the song directly to your own Spotify liked list without ever leaving the Snapchat application. This keeps the music discovery process quick and straightforward.
Privacy controls let you decide exactly who sees your music
Because music tastes can be highly personal, the development team built in several visibility options. You get to decide exactly who can view your active listening status. You can share your current tracks with all of your mutual friends on the Snapchat network, or restrict the feature to only those who already have access to your live location.
If you prefer to keep things quiet, you can select specific individuals to share with, or completely hide your activity from everyone. The update is currently rolling out wherever both services are available globally, giving users a fun new way to bond over their favorite daily soundtracks.
