Apple Quietly Updates Older MacBook Images to Highlight the Notch

Apple appears to be updating product images of older MacBook models to make their display notches more visible, following the launch of its redesigned MacBook Pro on October 28. The change was spotted by an X user, who noticed updated images on Apple’s Canadian online store.

The timing is interesting because Apple’s new MacBook Pro introduces a redesigned display with Dynamic Island, replacing the traditional camera notch found on earlier models.

Apple Makes the Notch More Visible on Older Macs

Apple previously used dark wallpapers in some MacBook marketing images, making the notch blend into the surrounding menu bar. The newly spotted imagery appears to give the cutout greater visibility.

Apple introduced the notch with its 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models in 2021, allowing the display to extend closer to the top edge while accommodating the FaceTime camera.

The company has not publicly explained the reported image changes. However, they draw attention to the visual differences between older MacBooks and the newly redesigned lineup.

The new Dynamic Island interface also introduces a more interactive camera area, with system notifications and controls integrated into the top of the display.
