Those threads make a third season easy to imagine, but imagination is not a renewal notice.

Ned and Mare are the clearest unfinished story
Season 2 ends with Mare considering a longer stay in Cincinnati after Ned fails to say what he feels directly to her. He asks her to return as a journalist, then later confesses to the camera that he loves her. That gap between what he can say privately and what he will say to Mare is the cleanest emotional engine for a possible continuation.
The newsroom side is just as important. The Glass Club exposé makes the Truth Teller’s survival feel connected to its willingness to challenge local power. A third season could test whether that work earns the paper credibility or makes it harder to keep the operation alive.
The ensemble still has stories that need decisions
Nicole and Detrick end in an uneasy place, while Adelola and Travis move closer without fully defining what they are. Esmeralda’s role at the paper also changes as she learns that attention and reporting are not interchangeable. These are open arcs, not promises that Peacock has approved more episodes.
