Vigil has not been officially renewed for Season 4, and Suranne Jones has not been confirmed to return. That is the only firm renewal-status answer after the Season 3 finale. The BBC has not announced a fourth investigation, a production order, a release window, or a cast deal, so any report that treats another season as assured goes further than the available evidence.
There is still a sensible reason the question exists. Season 3 leaves Amy Silva and Kirsten Longacre alive after exposing the conspiracy around Shen Jia’s biofuel research, and the series has already reinvented its central investigation twice. But a story left open is not the same thing as a commission.

That distinction matters with a series whose seasons are built as separate cases. A new setting, a new political threat, or a new case for Amy and Kirsten would be plausible formats, but none has been announced. Plausible is not reportable as planned.
Amy’s future is the biggest reason a return would matter
Season 3 puts Amy’s career under pressure after she defies the attempt to send Jia back to China. That consequence gives a possible fourth season a meaningful starting point: not simply another international conspiracy, but the question of what happens to an officer who refuses institutional pressure at real personal cost.
Jones remains essential to that premise because Amy is the lens through which the franchise’s security-state conflicts become personal. Rose Leslie’s Kirsten is equally central to the investigative partnership, but neither performer has publicly been attached to an unannounced next season.
A finale can leave possibilities without promising them
The Season 3 resolution arrests the officials closest to the cover-up but does not suggest that the political interests around Jia’s discovery disappear. That is fertile dramatic ground, yet the ending functions as an ending too: the case is solved and Jia’s research is made public. It should not be treated as a cliffhanger demanding a renewal.
The official World Productions Season 3 page lists the current production, while current coverage has found no BBC announcement for another run.
