Jason2 apologizes to Amanda because he finally accepts that envy, not fate, drove him to steal Jason1’s life. He chose professional ambition over Daniela, saw another version build the family he wanted and treated the Box as permission to take it. Amanda forces him to describe that choice without hiding behind science.
His apology is also personal. Amanda loved the flawed person he already was, but he stayed absorbed in the life he believed he had missed. Jason2 admits that his selfishness prevented him from loving Amanda as she deserved. The admission acknowledges damage that his focus on Daniela often pushed aside.

Amanda refuses to let regret become an excuse
Jason2 initially explains how infinite alternatives changed him. He had achieved the scientific success many Jasons wanted, yet the sight of Daniela and Charlie made that achievement feel empty. Regret became obsession, and obsession became a plan to replace a man whose choices had produced a different life.
Amanda does not allow that account to become absolution. The Box showed Jason2 possibilities, but it did not choose for him. He abandoned Ryan in another world, deceived Daniela and Charlie, displaced Jason1 and repeatedly treated other people as pieces in his correction of the past.
Jason2 finally names what he stole
The most important part of the conversation is Jason2’s willingness to stop defending himself. He recognizes that he could have built intimacy with Amanda and refused it. That truth does not repair their relationship, but it moves him from explaining his pain to accepting responsibility for the pain he caused.
Amanda neither fully forgives nor executes Ryan’s idea of abandoning Jason2 in a deadly reality. When Jason2 says he wants to do something good, she gives him a chance to prove it. Ryan supplies Lilac Wings reluctantly, understanding that access to the Box restores enormous power to someone who abused it before.
Lilac Wings turn the apology into a test
That decision makes the apology measurable. Jason2 can use the compound to help Amanda and Ryan, pursue restitution or disappear into another stolen life. His words matter only if his next choice breaks the pattern that created the series’ crisis.
