Apple Watch Ultra 4 includes a Readiness option for the outer bezel area on supported watch faces. It places the current score and classification at the bottom, while segmented bars around the edge show where that score sits in Apple’s four readiness ranges.
Apple’s Readiness support page confirms that the score is available only on Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4. It runs from 0 to 10 and maps to Recover, Pace Yourself, Ready or Go for it.
There is an unusual documentation gap. Apple’s current watch-face guide explains that Modular Ultra can show bezel data, but it lists only Elevation and Training as customizable bezel choices. It does not yet list Readiness, even though the option appears on Ultra 4.

What the bezel adds
The bezel gives the score more visual weight than a small complication. A dot marks the score within the active range, and only that range is highlighted. The number can change during the day as workouts and daytime vitals affect the calculation, so keeping it on the face can be more useful than opening the Readiness app repeatedly.
Apple says Readiness combines recent activity, training load, sleep and vitals. The company developed the scoring system with data from the Apple Heart and Movement Study. Apple also says the feature is for wellness rather than medical use.
Ultra 4 owners should remember that the bezel is a display of the same Readiness score, not a separate measurement. MacObserver has reported on delays affecting some Readiness updates and the Ultra 4 specifications that remain unique in Apple’s lineup.
Apple may update its face guide to include the new option. Until then, the live Ultra 4 face editor is more current than the published list. The omission also means owners of earlier Ultra models should not assume the new choice is available simply because Modular Ultra exists on their watch.
