A major visual overhaul is hitting the beta version of Apple Music on Android devices. After keeping the Liquid Glass aesthetic exclusive to its own platforms for a whole year, the company is finally bringing this updated design language over to phones outside its own ecosystem. The latest 7.0 beta update gives the user interface a noticeable visual refresh with floating menus, translucent bars, and better screen support.
New floating bottom bars change how you navigate the application
The visual update introduces a floating bottom bar that lets you see content above, below, and to the sides. This navigation element has a slight transparency so you can view solid colors hiding underneath it. A floating mini player also hovers above the bar instead of staying locked to it.
Unlike the software experience on iOS, scrolling down a page on the Android operating system does not shrink the bar into a smaller version. Everything stays in place while you move through the app. The update also brings an edge to edge design that pushes the layout all the way into the status and navigation areas.

Updated artist pages pull background colors directly from cover images
Other parts of the application see noticeable visual shifts. The top bars now put the page title and the overflow menu on the same line. Those familiar three dot icons sit inside circular containers and no longer use a red color theme. Inside the library tab, options to edit pins and categories are now tucked away into the overflow menu.
When viewing artist pages, the background color now matches the cover image. This look copies the iPhone version directly. It features a larger play button and moves the information section away from the very bottom. The settings page groups items better, though the actual playing screen remains mostly unchanged.
The beta test is open right now and usually takes a few weeks before reaching a final release. Anyone interested can sign up through the app store listing to try out the new visuals early. This version number also puts the application on the same numbering track as Apple and its own system updates.
