Sid Baker, River Cartwright and J.K. Coe are running because the people targeting Slough House have moved from surveillance and isolated killings to an active pursuit. Apple’s official description for ā€œLost and Foundā€ says the trio must do everything they can to escape a hit squad while Jackson Lamb investigates who Frank Harkness serves.

The two strands are connected, but the episode has not aired at the time of writing, so the identity of the client remains unconfirmed. What is clear is that Sid’s return has placed her in the same danger as the agents she once worked beside, while River’s suspicion has become a fight for survival.

The assassins are targeting the Slough House network

Season 6 began with current and former Slow Horses under threat from two ruthless killers. That pattern explains why Sid, River and Coe cannot treat the approaching gunmen as a random attack. Their connection to Slough House is the common factor, even if each agent knows a different part of the story.

Coe is particularly valuable in a chase because he observes danger differently from River. River tends to move first when someone he cares about is threatened. Coe is colder and more tactical. Sid sits between them, carrying knowledge from the years in which River believed she was dead and from the hidden work that followed.

Sid’s return has not answered River’s questions

River wants to know where Sid has been and whose orders she has followed. Running together does not automatically settle that mistrust. It does, however, force them to cooperate before either has time to establish the full truth.

The title ā€œLost and Foundā€ points directly at Sid. She was lost to Slough House after being shot in Season 1, and her survival was kept beyond River’s reach. Finding her again brings relief, but it also opens a new problem: someone may have spent years controlling what Sid could reveal.

Lamb needs Frank’s client to stop the chase

Lamb’s investigation matters because catching one gunman will not end an operation financed and directed from elsewhere. Frank Harkness has experience recruiting damaged young men and turning them into weapons. If he is now working for another power, the hit squad may be only one part of a larger retaliation campaign.

Episode 4 therefore sets up a race on two levels. Sid, River and Coe must stay alive long enough to expose what they know, while Lamb must identify the person who benefits from killing Slow Horses. Surviving the chase can reveal loyalties, but it cannot expose the person giving the orders. Who do you think hired Frank? Share your theory in the comments.
