Spoiler warning: This article reveals the ending of Ted Lasso Season 4.

Ted stays at AFC Richmond, but he no longer leads the women’s team. “Being Alive” makes Alice Chilton the new head coach, with Ted and Beard serving as her assistants. Rebecca keeps control of the club and becomes engaged to Matthijs, while Roy accepts Chelsea’s head-coaching job and prepares for a baby with Keeley.

The finale does not separate the central characters through defeat. It moves them into new roles after Mae’s death forces Richmond to consider what living fully should look like. Each decision involves risk, but none closes the door on the group returning together.

Ted stays and finally tells Henry the truth

Ted begins the episode worried that he has failed Henry by missing matches and avoiding a painful family conversation. He first gives his son an incomplete answer about his father’s death. Later, he apologizes and tells Henry the truth about his grandfather’s suicide, ending the pattern of hiding difficult feelings behind reassurance.

His professional choice follows the same idea. Ted gives Alice the farewell gift he had previously taken back, then accepts a supporting position when she becomes head coach. The change lets Alice own the team she helped build without requiring Ted to leave London or Richmond again.

Rebecca keeps Richmond and chooses Matthijs

Zelda appears to complete her hostile takeover when the Milk Sisters sell their shares. Rebecca and Higgins are ahead of her, however. Hugo returns those shares to Rebecca, leaving both women with 49 percent until Mae’s final two-percent stake is transferred back to Rebecca.

Rebecca therefore finishes with 51 percent and control of AFC Richmond. Her larger decision comes after she reflects on Mae dying while doing what she loved. When Matthijs arrives, Rebecca proposes, admitting that marriage was not the problem. She had simply married the wrong person before.

Roy leaves Richmond, but not Keeley

Roy accepts Chelsea’s offer to become its head coach after Richmond’s season ends. He knows the move is a risk, yet it reflects Rebecca’s earlier challenge to stop standing in his own way. Ted leaves him a green Army man and a note saying he will be a great father.

Keeley remains pregnant and excited, even as the coming changes frighten her. She and Roy leave his Richmond office together. The finale treats Chelsea as Roy’s professional departure, not another breakup between them.

“Being Alive” ends with movement instead of a permanent goodbye. Alice leads, Ted supports, Rebecca owns the club, and Roy and Keeley begin a new family chapter. Which change gives a possible Season 5 the strongest story? Share your answer in the comments.
