People who own Bluesound stereo equipment have a reason to celebrate this week. The premium audio brand just rolled out a free software update that builds Apple Music directly into its BluOS platform. This means listeners no longer have to rely on workarounds to get their favorite playlists onto their high-end speakers.
The music keeps playing when you walk away
Before this update, if you wanted to listen to Apple’s music service on Bluesound gear, you had to beam the audio from your device using AirPlay. Now, the integration lives completely inside the BluOS Controller app. Once you log in, the speaker hardware pulls the audio stream straight from the internet.
This change completely frees up your iPhone or iPad. Because the player handles the heavy lifting itself, your music will keep streaming even if you step outside to take a phone call or leave the house entirely. You can group speakers together for a house party, or play jazz in the living room while someone else listens to a podcast in the kitchen.

The update works with multiple premium audio brands
The new feature is not limited just to Bluesound’s own line of soundbars and speakers. The BluOS software powers audio equipment from several other respected manufacturers. If you have compatible hardware from NAD Electronics, PSB Speakers, DALI Loudspeakers, Cyrus, or Monitor Audio, this update will work for your setup as well.
The only mystery left is the audio quality. Bluesound has not confirmed if this new native setup supports Apple‘s high-resolution Lossless Audio format. The software update is available to download right now, and the feature only requires an active music subscription to start listening.
