Apple’s iOS 27.2 update gives Siri AI access to your voicemails, allowing the assistant to answer personal questions using information left in recorded messages. The feature expands Siri’s understanding of personal context, making it easier to find important details without manually searching through the Phone app.
According to Apple’s official release notes, Siri can now draw information from voicemails alongside Messages attachments, Calendar events, Safari history, and Reading List. The update arrived on October 26 and is available for compatible iPhones.
How Siri Uses Your Voicemails in iOS 27.2
With the new integration, you can ask Siri about information contained in your voicemail messages. For example, if someone left a message mentioning an appointment or meeting time, Siri can use that information to help answer your question.

The feature supports several practical uses:
- Find important details: Ask Siri about dates, appointments, or information mentioned in voicemails.
- Understand personal context: Siri can combine relevant information from supported apps when answering questions.
- Recall earlier conversations: Siri can also remember previous interactions, including recommendations it gave you.
- Control app access: The new Excluded Apps setting lets you restrict which apps Siri and Search can access.
Apple has not explained the exact technical process Siri uses to retrieve voicemail information or whether every message is searchable.
How This Differs From Existing Voicemail Features
Apple previously introduced Siri suggested actions for voicemail, allowing iPhones to create reminders and calendar events from voicemail transcripts.
| Feature | Function |
|---|---|
| Voicemail Summaries | Summarizes recorded messages |
| Siri Suggested Actions | Suggests reminders and calendar events |
| Siri AI in iOS 27.2 | Uses voicemail information to answer questions |
The new functionality requires an iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or iPhone 16 or later with Siri AI enabled.
Siri AI remains in beta, with support for English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. It is currently unavailable in the European Union and mainland China.
