On iOS 27, your iPhone can turn a voicemail into a to-do. With Apple Intelligence, the Phone app shows what Apple calls “Siri suggested actions” based on the voicemail transcript, such as adding a reminder or creating a calendar event.
Apple’s iOS 27 guide documents the feature and its off switch, Suggestions in Voicemail, at Settings > Apps > Phone. The suggestions work in English.
How to find the suggestions
The suggestions come from the transcript, so start by opening a voicemail. Where you tap depends on your Phone app layout.

- Go to the Phone app on your iPhone.
- Unified layout: tap Calls, then tap a message in the Recents list. To see only voicemail, tap the Filter button, then tap Voicemails. Classic layout: tap Voicemail, then tap a message.
- The transcription appears in the bottom half of the screen. With Apple Intelligence, suggested actions based on that transcript can appear, like adding a reminder or creating a calendar event.
Before you save anything, check the date and time against what the caller actually said. A suggestion is only as good as the transcript underneath it, and a misheard “fifteenth” or “fifty” ends up in your calendar.
How to turn voicemail suggestions off
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap Apps, then tap Phone.
- Turn off Suggestions in Voicemail.
Apple lists the same switch on its page of Apple Intelligence settings, as “Voicemail suggestions in Phone.” Apple describes it as the way to choose whether these suggestions appear.
The Phone settings hold a second Apple Intelligence control that’s easy to mix up with this one. Call Context cards, which appear during calls, have their own setting: tap Apps, tap Phone, tap Apple Intelligence & Siri, then tap Show When Calling.
Who gets it
You need Apple Intelligence, which in iOS 27 runs on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 16 models or later, including iPhone 18 Pro. Apple says the suggested actions are “available in English,” and it doesn’t narrow that to particular countries. Your device language and Siri language must also match, and Apple notes that usage limits may apply.
Don’t be thrown by the name. These “Siri suggested actions” aren’t part of Siri AI, the beta assistant that arrived with iOS 27 on September 14, so you don’t need Siri AI switched on to see them.
Suggestions and summaries are separate
Voicemail summaries, the short recap Apple Intelligence writes for a message, are older. Apple’s support document lists them among the features supported since iOS 26, in English and several other languages in selected regions.
Summaries tell you what a caller wanted. Suggested actions go one step further and offer to put it in Reminders or Calendar for you.
