Frank is suspicious but not proven guilty
River has every reason to suspect his father. Frank appears outside David Cartwright’s funeral, says he is in London for business and escapes after River tries to stop him. His history as a mercenary makes him dangerous, but the premiere leaves open whether he is hunting River, protecting him or pursuing a separate objective.
Lamb also has to identify the authority that erased Slough House. The missing paychecks and records could keep the team from using normal Park support. Diana Taverner claims the deletion is a mistake, yet the change appears deliberate and comes from high inside the Service. Emma Flyte already went around Taverner to show Lamb the first death, making her a possible route to resources the Horses have lost.
River is the next target
The immediate danger is River. By selecting an active agent after killing two former ones, the assassins show that every generation of Slough House may be on the same list. Lamb’s practical response should be to locate his people, take them off predictable routines and work outside compromised channels. The title “Daddy Issues” also promises that River’s pursuit of Frank will compete with the discipline required to survive that response.
Episode 2 should clarify the shape of the conspiracy without necessarily exposing its architect. No official preview confirms the outcome of an attack.
