The story is heading toward a wider confrontation between the police and the city around them. With a detective missing and public anger rising, the Azules must find the next link without assuming that institutional authority will protect them.
What Apple has confirmed about Episode 6
Apple’s official episode listing says public hostility toward the police grows after the Executioner’s latest killings. That short description confirms the central pressure but does not identify the new victims or explain how the Azules respond.
The episode follows “Lozano,” which brought the case directly into the department when another detective disappeared. María also saw her family life collide with the investigation during an evening with her daughter. The next chapter therefore begins with the police looking vulnerable rather than in control.
Season 2 has connected its present-day murders to the 1968 student massacre. María, now a lieutenant, has repeatedly had to choose between institutional rules and the evidence in front of her. Growing anger toward the police makes that conflict harder. Solving the killings will not automatically restore trust in a department affected by corruption.
What Gilberto could mean for the Azules
The title follows the season’s practice of naming episodes after people tied to the case, but Apple has not published an official character description for Gilberto. It would be premature to call him a victim, suspect or witness before the episode streams.
What can be said is that the Executioner’s campaign is influencing the city around the investigation. Public hostility may restrict the team’s access to witnesses and evidence. It may also deepen disagreements inside the precinct about whether the killings should be treated only as crimes or as a reaction to past abuse.
María, Valentina, Gabina and Ángeles remain the department’s best chance of stopping the killer, according to Apple’s season description. They are also working within the system being challenged, which makes public anger more than background noise.
What has not been published
Apple has not revealed the identity of the Executioner, the fate of the missing detective or the precise event that turns public opinion further against the police in Episode 6. It has not confirmed whether María’s daughter remains in immediate danger.
Those gaps are part of the mystery, not invitations to fill in a prediction as fact. The confirmed pieces are the September 16 release, the title “Gilberto” and a city becoming more openly hostile after the latest killings.
