Netflix has released the first images from Monster Season 4 and confirmed that The Lizzie Borden Story will premiere on September 17, 2026.
Ella Beatty stars as Lizzie Borden, the Massachusetts woman accused of killing her father, Andrew Borden, and stepmother, Abby Borden, in 1892. A jury later acquitted her, but the unsolved case turned her into one of America’s most recognisable true-crime figures.

The first-look images introduce Beatty in the lead role while showing the dark Victorian setting surrounding the Borden household. The eight-episode season will examine Lizzie’s family life, the killings, her trial, and the public fascination that followed the case.
Charlie Hunnam returns to the Monster anthology after playing Ed Gein in Season 3. He now plays Andrew Borden, Lizzie’s wealthy and controlling father. Rebecca Hall appears as Abby Borden, while Billie Lourd plays Lizzie’s older sister, Emma.
Monster Season 4 Cast Includes Sarah Paulson
Vicky Krieps joins the cast as Bridget Sullivan, the Borden family’s maid. The series will explore a possible romantic relationship between Bridget and Lizzie, although this part of the story involves creative interpretation rather than confirmed historical evidence.
Jessica Barden plays actress Nance O’Neil, who developed a close friendship with Lizzie after the trial. Sarah Paulson will also appear as serial killer Aileen Wuornos as the season examines how society has portrayed women accused of violent crimes.
Created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, Monster previously covered Jeffrey Dahmer, the Menendez brothers, and Ed Gein. The Lizzie Borden Story marks the anthology’s first season built around a female central figure.
All eight episodes of Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story will arrive on Netflix on September 17, 2026.
