If Writing Tools stops responding in Messages, or a reminder you made from a chat has no title, your iPhone isn’t at fault. Both bugs are listed as known issues in Apple’s own iOS 27 release notes, and Apple gives a workaround for each: force quit Messages for the first, and type the title in the Reminders app for the second.
The same developer notes list three more problems an ordinary iPhone owner could hit outside Siri. Apple’s page was unchanged when we checked it on September 19, and no update to the September 14 release had shipped by then, so every entry still applies. We covered the eight Siri known issues and their workarounds separately.
Writing Tools can freeze in Messages
Apple’s entry reads: “Writing Tools becomes unresponsive when you interact with the Plus button while Writing Tools is in use.” The workaround points at Messages, so that’s where to expect it: tap the Plus button while Writing Tools is still working on your text, and it can lock up.

The fix is blunt: “Force quit Messages to resolve the issue.” On an iPhone with Face ID, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause in the middle. On an iPhone with a Home button, double-click it. Then swipe up on the Messages preview to close it and open Messages again. Better still, let Writing Tools finish before you touch Plus.
Reminders from Messages arrive without a title
iOS 27 can turn part of a conversation into a reminder, but the hand-off drops the name. Apple says that after you tap “Add to Reminders” in Messages, “the ‘New Reminder’ interface presents the reminder with an empty title field.” Apple’s workaround has two steps:
- In the New Reminder sheet, tap “Add to Reminders” to create the reminder anyway.
- Open the Reminders app and type the title into the new reminder.
The reminder itself is saved, only nameless, so scan your lists for blank entries made since you updated. If you’d rather skip Messages, iOS 27 can also fill in Reminders details from a sentence you type in the app.
Dictation’s voice editing commands are unreliable
iOS 27 lets you correct dictated text by voice, and Apple concedes that part isn’t solid yet: “Voice Editing commands such as ‘Change X to Y’, ‘Delete X’, and ‘Undo/Redo’ might not work reliably.” There’s no workaround listed. Dictation itself isn’t on the list, only the editing commands, so if a spoken correction doesn’t take, fix the word by hand and keep talking. A missing privacy line in Wallet
This bug changes what you see, not what the feature does. When Wallet shows a receipt matched to an Apple Pay, Apple Card or Apple Cash transaction, a note should sit underneath: “Siri found in Mail or Photos. Not shared with card issuer.” Apple says that line “does not appear” in iOS 27.
If a receipt appears next to a purchase and you wonder where it came from, that’s the answer: your Mail or Photos. Nothing else is broken, so Apple lists no workaround.
One for Vision Pro owners
The last entry only matters if you lend out an Apple Vision Pro. Starting a Guest Mode session “might result in two Live Activities on screen at the same time” on your iPhone’s Lock Screen. Apple’s workaround is to dismiss the Lock Screen and lock the iPhone again. (A CarPlay entry, Siri responding slowly when the phone is hot or reception is poor, is a Siri issue and sits in our earlier piece.)
When a fix might come
These are developer notes, and Apple says “might” for most entries, so many iPhones will never hit any of them. Apple gives no date for fixes. The first iOS 27.2 beta arrived on September 16, and iOS 27.1 is being held for iPhone Duo, which ships October 23. Until an update lists these bugs as resolved, the workarounds above are Apple’s official advice.
