The system uses Image Portal X to manage a MySQL database, and runs on a 1.8GHz Power Mac G5.
Although Yale isnit saying how much the package cost them, they did state that it is far cheaper than other comparable systems. Lee Faulkner, Yaleis Digital Media Center media director, commented “Our budget is tight. Itis nothing like the multiple tens of thousands of dollars we could have paid.”
Yale hopes the new digital arts database system will help expand their artistic talents into new areas.
