Apple could announce a new iMac and 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by the M6 chip today, October 27, as part of its latest Mac refresh. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple may introduce both computers on Tuesday before unveiling its redesigned touchscreen MacBook Pro models on Wednesday.
Apple has already scheduled its “Pro and Tell” media experience for October 28 in Los Angeles. However, Gurman recently suggested that the company could spread its product announcements across multiple days, with the M6 iMac and MacBook Pro arriving ahead of the main presentation.
As previously reported, Apple has been preparing both Macs for an October release, with upgrades primarily focused on performance rather than major design changes.

New iMac and 14-Inch MacBook Pro: What to Expect
The upcoming iMac is expected to retain its 24-inch design while replacing the M4 processor with Apple’s newer M6 chip. Apple could also introduce additional color options, although the display, overall design, and external connections are expected to remain largely unchanged.
Meanwhile, the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro should receive the same M6 processor while keeping its existing chassis, mini-LED display, and familiar keyboard and trackpad.
Here’s how the two upcoming Macs compare:
| Feature | New iMac | 14-Inch MacBook Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Processor | Apple M6 | Apple M6 |
| Display | 24-inch 4.5K Retina LCD | 14-inch Liquid Retina XDR |
| Touchscreen | Not expected | Not expected |
| Design | Existing design | Existing design |
| Main upgrade | Faster Apple silicon | Faster Apple silicon |
| Announcement | October 27 or 28 | October 27 or 28 |
Both computers should benefit from the M6 chip’s improved CPU and GPU architecture, which Apple introduced with the M6 Mac mini in August.
The processor uses a 2-nanometer manufacturing process and supports improved graphics performance, memory bandwidth, and on-device AI processing. These improvements should help with demanding applications, including video editing, photo processing, and multitasking.
However, Apple has yet to confirm the final configurations, memory options, or pricing for either machine.
Apple Is Also Preparing OLED Touchscreen MacBook Pros
Alongside these updates, Apple is expected to introduce redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with OLED displays and touchscreen support.
The premium laptops will reportedly feature:
- OLED panels with deeper blacks and improved contrast.
- Touchscreen support with new macOS interface adjustments.
- A Dynamic Island replacing the existing display notch.
- Thinner and lighter designs.
- M5 Pro and M5 Max processors.
The OLED MacBook Pro models are expected to cost considerably more than the standard M6 version, giving buyers another option within Apple’s professional laptop lineup.
When Will the New Macs Be Available?
Apple could announce the M6 iMac and 14-inch MacBook Pro today, although Wednesday, October 28, remains another possibility.
Current reports suggest that the new computers could become available on November 6, with preorders potentially opening shortly after their announcement.
Apple has not officially confirmed the launch schedule, pricing, or availability. More details are expected during this week’s product announcements.
