Apple has launched several new products this week, and as expected, those launches have led to a wave of discontinuations across the lineup. Whenever Apple refreshes its hardware, older models quietly leave the store. This time, the company has removed seven products, covering iPhone, iPad, Mac, and display categories.
So far, Apple has introduced six new devices, and each one has replaced an existing model. As a result, buyers will no longer find certain configurations and older generations on Apple’s online store. These changes affect entry models as well as professional hardware.
According to Apple’s updated product listings, the following devices are now discontinued:
Products Apple Has Discontinued
- iPhone 16e, replaced by iPhone 17e
- M4 MacBook Air, replaced by M5 MacBook Air
- MacBook Pro with M4 Pro and M4 Max, replaced by MacBook Pro with M5 Pro and M5 Max
- M5 MacBook Pro with 512GB storage, replaced by M5 MacBook Pro with 1TB storage
- M3 iPad Air, replaced by M4 iPad Air
- Apple Studio Display 2022 model, replaced by new Studio Display
- Pro Display XDR, replaced by Studio Display XDR
Most of these updates follow Apple’s usual year-over-year upgrade cycle. The iPhone 17e, M5 MacBook Air, new MacBook Pro models, and the M4 iPad Air keep the same core design while adding performance improvements and updated chips. Apple maintains the same product structure but moves everything forward with new silicon.
One decision stands out. Apple removed the 512GB version of the M5 MacBook Pro just months after launching it in October. Buyers now have to start at 1TB storage, which increases the base price and removes the lower entry option from the lineup.
On the display side, Apple replaced the 2022 Studio Display with an updated model and retired the Pro Display XDR in favor of the new Studio Display XDR. The newer display brings refinements, while also reshaping Apple’s high end monitor strategy.
One More Product May Be Discontinued
Apple is expected to announce two more products this week: a new “MacBook Neo“ and an updated base iPad with an A18 chip. The MacBook Neo will not replace any existing model because it adds a new tier to the lineup.
However, if Apple introduces the A18-powered iPad, the current 11th-generation iPad with the A16 chip will likely disappear. That model launched last March and remains the only iPhone, iPad, or Mac in Apple’s lineup that does not support Apple Intelligence. By switching to A18, Apple would make its entire lineup AI-compatible.
