Mark Gurman from Bloomberg recently noted that Apple is putting together a new lineup of accessories. This upcoming hardware drop is expected to happen in the spring of 2027. It will likely bring us a new version of the basic Apple Pencil that relies on a USB-C connection, along with an updated Apple Pencil Pro for high-end users.
These new drawing tools are set to arrive at the same time as the next wave of iPad Pro models. While Gurman did not share a full list of fresh features, he did point out that the company is developing new battery systems. However, a new law in the European Union states that every consumer electronics must have batteries that regular people can easily remove and replace by early 2027.
Because the brand wants to continue selling its hardware overseas, it needs to comply with these upcoming rules. Changing the internal design to allow for a quick battery swap would keep the devices on store shelves in those countries. It also gives buyers a much better deal since they will not have to buy a brand new stylus just because the battery gets too old to hold a charge.
