The new folding iPhone is almost here, and developers are working hard to make sure their software looks great on the bigger screen. Apple has shared that over 50 different apps will be fully updated to support the unique folding screen on the iPhone Duo right when it launches or shortly after.
Since the folding design gives people a screen that is 50 percent larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max, many of your favorite tools and games will feel completely different to use.
Watch your favorite shows on a bigger inner display
Entertainment apps are taking full advantage of the larger screen size. Netflix has built a neat feature where you can scroll through short vertical clips on the outside cover screen to find something you want to watch. When you open the phone, the video switches smoothly to the large inner display so you can settle in for a movie.

Prime Video from Amazon is also updating its look. If you partially fold the phone and set it down like a laptop, the video will play on the top half while actor information and bonus details show up on the bottom half. Fans of live baseball can use the MLB app to watch a game on one side of the screen while keeping track of live scores and stats on the other half.
Get more done with split view and bigger work spaces
The folding screen makes it much easier to work while you are away from your desk. Apple is adding a Split View feature that lets you run two apps side by side. Zoom takes advantage of this by turning the inner screen into a wide conference room, letting you see the shared presentation and other people on the call at the same time.

Microsoft is also rolling out updates for Word and Outlook soon. These updates will bring a desktop-like feel to your pocket, putting your formatting tools right next to your document. Slack has also been updated so you can see your entire workspace layout and easily flip through different chat channels without losing your place.
If you use a calendar, the Fantastical app now shows your schedule, tasks, and menus all at once on the big screen. Other productivity tools like Things and Bear are making it easier to organize your to-do lists by showing more information at once.
Edit photos and videos with pro tools on the go
Creative apps are giving people more room to edit. The Instagram app will now show more posts and Stories at once. The Edits feature in Instagram gives creators a full studio view, laying out the video timeline and editing tools across the wider screen.
Video editing apps like VLLO and Detail are using the extra space to put video previews next to audio transcripts. This setup makes editing a video on a phone feel just as natural as editing a text document on a laptop.
With the powerful A20 Pro chip keeping things running smoothly, playing games or multitasking across different apps on the folding screen will be a major shift in how we use our phones. As more developers explore what this flexible screen can do, the list of optimized apps will only keep growing.
