Anyone buying an Apple Watch Series 12 or Apple Watch Ultra 4 for Audio Intelligence is buying two features now and two on a promise. Apple support document 148354 lists Sound Recognition and Music Recognition as available, and dates Live Rewind and Siri Recap as a beta later in 2026, with no month attached.

Three other conditions sit alongside that date. Apple says English to start, the United States first, and it repeats in the same document that Siri AI will not be available initially in the EU on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS.

What Apple dates, and how loosely

Apple’s precision drops sharply between the hardware and the software here. The watches have a day, September 18. watchOS 27 has a day, September 14. Two of the four Audio Intelligence features have a half-year.

English first, and the United States first

The support document sets Audio Intelligence in English, with additional languages planned for future releases. Apple gives no candidate language and no window, which is the same wording it uses for the wider Siri AI rollout.

For context on how narrow that is, Apple Intelligence as a whole launches in 16 languages on September 14: English, Chinese in Simplified and Traditional forms, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish and Vietnamese. Audio Intelligence starts with one of them.

The EU line covers more than Siri

Apple’s footnote for the September products states that Siri AI will not be available initially in the EU on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS, and that features which rely on Siri AI will also not be available there on those three systems. Apple adds that it is working hard to find a path forward that preserves its users’ privacy and security.

Document 148354 repeats the exclusion. What Apple does not do is name which Audio Intelligence features rely on Siri AI, so the size of the EU gap is unstated even though the sentence is present.

Buying on September 18 for a feature dated later

  • The hardware is the same either way. Both watches ship with the S11 chip and its Secure Exclave, which Apple describes as a dedicated hardware-isolated compartment used for on-device audio processing, and Apple says no audio recordings are stored.
  • Live Rewind and Siri Recap also require an iPhone 16 or newer, so a qualifying watch is not on its own enough.
  • Apple describes both deferred features as a beta and has not said whether that means a public beta, a staged rollout or a standard update.
  • Daily usage limits apply to Apple Intelligence features that rely on server-side models, and Apple’s footnotes say expanded access will be available for a fee in the future.
  • Siri AI is not available to users under 13.

The two features that are listed as available are also the two with the lower iPhone requirement, at iPhone 11 or later or iPhone SE 2nd generation or later. That is the set a buyer can plan around.

What Apple has not said

  • Any month for Live Rewind or Siri Recap inside late 2026.
  • Which languages follow English, or when.
  • Which countries follow the United States.
  • Which Audio Intelligence features fall under the EU exclusion.
  • How a user joins the beta, or whether joining is required at all.
  • Any release time for watchOS 27 on September 14.

watchOS 27 arrives free on Monday, September 14, and Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 reach stores on Friday, September 18. The next thing to watch for is a dated Apple note on the Live Rewind and Siri Recap beta; until then, late 2026 is the whole of it. Our event recap covers everything else from September 9.
