Audio Intelligence has four members and the fourth barely gets a sentence. Apple support document 148354 lists Music Recognition with Shazam alongside Sound Recognition, Live Rewind and Siri Recap, and the Apple Watch Series 12 page describes it as faster Shazam music detection with results in the Smart Stack.
It is also the member with the lowest requirements and the clearest status. Apple lists it as available, and on the iPhone side it asks only for an iPhone 11 or later, where Live Rewind and Siri Recap require an iPhone 16 or newer.

Apple’s definition covers the group in one sentence: a class of Apple Intelligence features that use the microphones of Apple Watch, the power of Apple silicon, and on-device and cloud-based AI models to help you detect sounds, identify music, and stay present and engaged. Identifying music is the middle clause, and Music Recognition is the feature behind it.

Music Recognition is the only one of the four that both Apple pages place in the present tense.
Faster than what
Apple’s word is faster and Apple never finishes the comparison. There is no timing figure, no named earlier watch, no test conditions and no description of what was measured, which puts this claim in the same category as several other September 9 figures we can quote but not check.
The only concrete detail attached is the destination. Apple says results appear in the Smart Stack, the widget stack watchOS surfaces from the watch face.
The hardware Apple attaches to it
Music Recognition is gated to the two new watches even though its iPhone requirement reaches back to 2019 hardware. Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 both carry the S11 chip, which Apple pairs with a Secure Exclave it describes as a dedicated hardware-isolated compartment used for on-device audio processing. Apple says no audio recordings are stored.
Apple does not break its privacy or processing statements out by feature, so the same two sentences cover music identification and conversation summaries alike. It also does not say what earlier watches running watchOS 27 get instead, or whether anything changes for them on September 14.

- Whether Music Recognition needs a network connection, or works from the watch alone.

- What music recognition, if anything, earlier Apple Watch models keep under watchOS 27.
