OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Health, a new feature focused on health and wellness guidance. It brings personal health data and AI responses into one dedicated space. The goal is to help people understand their health better while supporting, not replacing, medical care.
Health questions already make up a large share of how people use ChatGPT. OpenAI says more than 230 million users ask health and wellness questions every week. ChatGPT Health builds on that demand with a structured experience designed for sensitive information, clearer answers, and stronger privacy controls.

ChatGPT Health
ChatGPT Health lives in its own section inside ChatGPT. It allows users to connect health data from select partners to ground responses in real information, not guesses. Users stay in control and choose which apps or records to connect, if any.
Supported partners at launch include:
- Apple Health
- Function
- MyFitnessPal
- Weight Watchers
- Additional wellness and fitness apps
Once connected, ChatGPT can help explain trends, summarize lab results, prepare questions for doctor visits, and offer guidance on diet, fitness, and daily habits.
“We’re introducing ChatGPT Health, a dedicated experience that securely brings your health information and ChatGPT’s intelligence together, to help you feel more informed, prepared, and confident navigating your health.”
Designed to Support Medical Care
OpenAI is clear about limits. ChatGPT Health does not diagnose conditions or replace doctors. It focuses on everyday understanding and long-term patterns, not medical decisions.
“Health is designed to support, not replace, medical care. It is not intended for diagnosis or treatment.”
The feature helps users organize scattered health data from apps, records, and notes into one place. This makes medical conversations easier and more productive.
Built With Physicians Over Two Years
OpenAI developed ChatGPT Health with direct input from doctors worldwide. This work shaped how the system responds when it urges follow-ups, and how it avoids harm.
“Over two years, we’ve worked with more than 260 physicians who have practiced in 60 countries and dozens of specialties… providing feedback on model outputs over 600,000 times across 30 areas of focus.”
That feedback influenced tone, clarity, safety checks, and escalation guidance built into the system.
Privacy and Security Come First
Health data stays separate from regular chats. OpenAI says health conversations use additional protections beyond standard ChatGPT security.
Key privacy points include:
- Health chats live in a separate space
- Purpose-built encryption and isolation
- Health conversations are not used to train models
- Users can view or delete Health memories at any time
“Conversations in Health are not used to train our foundation models.”
Users can also disconnect apps at any time, and access ends immediately.
Availability and Access
ChatGPT Health is rolling out to a limited group first. OpenAI plans to expand access in phases. It will be available on the web and iOS, with some integrations limited to the United States. Apple Health syncing requires an iPhone.
Users can join a waitlist and will see Health appear in the ChatGPT sidebar once access is enabled.
This is just the beginning. OpenAI says more integrations and features are coming as it refines how ChatGPT supports everyday health understanding.
