OpenAI has introduced a refreshed ChatGPT Voice experience built around GPT-Live, promising more natural conversation, smarter answers and visual responses when supported. The update changes how Voice handles interruptions and makes it easier to use spoken conversations alongside text and images.
OpenAI outlined the update in its GPT-Live announcement, saying the experience supports more natural back-and-forth, access to frontier models and visual responses. Availability depends on plan, region, app version and account settings.
Voice users can interrupt, pause and ask ChatGPT to adjust its pace. OpenAI says Live can work with web search, memory and supported widgets, while the prior Advanced voice experience remains the option for some mobile capabilities such as video and screen sharing.

How to find the new controls
In ChatGPT, open Settings, choose Voice and select an available experience. The Voice button in a chat starts a conversation after microphone permission is granted. Free and paid plans have different usage allowances.
OpenAI also notes that ChatGPT can make mistakes, especially with time-sensitive information. Voice is useful for hands-free interaction, but users should still verify important answers and avoid assuming every capability is available on every account.
