Google is testing a Gemini feature that can place and handle routine calls to businesses for Pixel 11 owners. It can ask about stock or opening hours, manage appointments and reservations, navigate automated menus, and wait on hold.
Google’s eligibility page describes the feature as a gradual rollout for adults in the United States. It requires a Pixel 11 with a US SIM, the Gemini mobile app, a Google AI subscription and the public beta of the Phone by Google app.
A user starts the task in Gemini instead of dialing the business. Google says the assistant identifies itself as an AI calling on a recorded line, gives the user’s name, and keeps a live transcript available. The user can take over the conversation at any point.

Who can try Gemini business calls
The current requirements make this a narrow early test rather than a general Gemini feature. The phone and Gemini apps must be current, the device language must be English, and the account holder must be at least 18. Business, education and supervised accounts are not listed as eligible on Google’s support page.
The feature also goes beyond Google’s existing Hold for Me tool. Hold for Me waits after the user places a call, while the new Gemini workflow can start the call and conduct the conversation. That broader authority makes the transcript and takeover controls particularly important.
MacObserver recently covered a Gemini security test involving real companies and Google DeepMind’s report that Gemini 4 is nearly ready. Neither story expands eligibility for this phone experiment.
Google has not provided a date for a wider Android or international release. Pixel 11 owners who meet every requirement may still need to wait for the staged rollout to reach their account. The support page also warns that Gemini can make mistakes, so users remain responsible for checking the transcript and any booking or purchase details.
