Apple plans a clear shift in its HomePod strategy for 2026. The company wants your speaker to become a visual and intelligent control hub for the entire home. Instead of focusing only on sound, Apple now targets video, automation, and voice-driven control at the center of daily home life.

At the heart of this change sits a new device, tentatively called HomePod Touch or HomePad. It blends a display, camera, and smart controls into one unit. As a result, your HomePod evolves from a passive speaker into an active home companion.

The upcoming HomePod Touch features a 7-inch display with thick bezels and a front-facing FaceTime camera. As expected, it runs on the new homeOS, a system built for touch and widgets. However, it still keeps the voice at the center through Siri and Apple Intelligence.

Meanwhile, Apple Intelligence drives smarter interactions. The system reads your presence, understands your routine, and adjusts settings in real time. As a result, Siri switches from basic commands to filtered, personal responses shaped around your habits.

In addition, Apple plans flexible mounting options. You can place the device on a wall or use a speaker stand. This design choice allows placement in kitchens, bedrooms, or entry spaces with equal ease.

Smarter upgrades across the HomePod

Apple also refreshes the HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K as part of this larger vision. The HomePod mini likely receives hardware upgrades such as the S9 or S10 chip. This change improves processing power and supports deeper smart home integration.

At the same time, Apple Intelligence expands its role across devices. Siri responds in a more natural way and recognizes different users by voice and presence. Therefore, each person receives tailored controls and responses.

These upgrades move beyond music playback. Instead, the devices coordinate lighting, temperature, and security in a connected system led by the HomePod hub.

Delays, pricing, and what arrives in 2026

Apple originally aimed for a late 2025 launch. However, development slowed as the team refined Siri and core Apple Intelligence features. As a result, the full rollout now shifts to early 2026.

Price expectations place the HomePod Touch around $350. Reports also suggest two versions, including a wall-mounted model and a speaker-based option for better sound delivery.

Overall, Apple positions this release as a turning point. The HomePod no longer plays a supporting role. Instead, it becomes the main voice, visual, and control center for the modern smart home.
