HomePod mini 2 costs 169,00 € and the new Apple TV 4K (4th generation) costs 349,00 € on Apple’s German, French and Spanish online stores, with the speaker arriving on October 30 and the TV box on November 13. EU buyers get the hardware without Siri AI, because Apple says in its footnotes that “Siri AI will not be initially available in the EU in iOS or iPadOS.”

That footnote appears in both the HomePod mini 2 press release and the Apple TV 4K release. Unlike HomeView, which Apple does not sell in the EU at all, both devices are listed for pre-order on Apple’s EU stores.

Why Siri AI is missing
Siri AI on HomePod mini 2 and Apple TV 4K does not run on its own. Apple’s footnote says it “requires the owner of the home in the Home app to have an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad running the latest software version and have Siri AI turned on and set to a supported language.”
The next sentence is the one that matters in the EU: “Siri AI will not be initially available in the EU in iOS or iPadOS.” Without Siri AI on the owner’s iPhone or iPad, EU homes cannot meet that requirement.
Apple’s EU store pages reflect that. The German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and Swedish pages for both products do not mention Siri AI at all. The U.S. and UK pages promote it.
Apple lists Siri AI for HomePod mini 2 “in English” via “a future software update” in the U.S., Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and the UK. On Apple TV 4K, Siri AI is available at launch in English in the same eight countries. No EU country is on either list.
What EU buyers do get
The German store pages describe what the hardware does without Siri AI.
HomePod mini 2:
- 360-degree audio from a compact speaker, powered by the Apple S10 chip, according to Apple’s press release
- Siri as the speaker’s assistant
- Stereo pairing and multiroom audio
- Surround sound when four HomePod speakers are paired with Apple TV 4K
- A smart home hub, Sound Recognition and a temperature and humidity sensor
- A 20W USB-C Power Adapter in the box
Apple TV 4K (4th generation):
- 4K Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and Dolby Atmos
- Built-in far-field microphones to talk to Siri from anywhere in the room
- Hands-free smart home control and home hub support
- The Siri Remote (4th generation), which can be found with Precision Finding on iPhone
- The A19 chip, which Apple says delivers up to 50 percent faster CPU performance and up to 2x faster GPU performance than the previous generation
Apple’s German page says HDMI and USB-C cables are sold separately.
Hands-free Siri depends on your language
Apple’s German footnote says Siri support through the far-field microphones varies by region and language. It works when the primary tvOS language is set to Chinese, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Hebrew, Norwegian or Swedish.
That covers buyers in Germany, France, the Netherlands and Sweden in their own language. Spanish and Italian are not on the list, so by Apple’s own footnote, hands-free Siri through the microphones is not supported when tvOS is set to Spanish or Italian. Our hands-free Siri language guide has more.
Launch offers in the EU
Both devices come with a service trial in Germany. HomePod mini 2 includes 3 months of Apple Music free for new subscribers, then 11,99 € a month. Apple TV 4K includes 3 months of Apple TV free for new and returning qualified subscribers, then 9,99 € a month.
HomeView stays off EU shelves
The rest of the October 13 lineup is a different story. Apple says “Apple HomeView is not available for sale in the European Union, as Siri AI is currently unavailable in iOS in the EU,” and adds that it is “working constructively with the EU in an attempt to find a path forward.” Our HomeView EU story covers that decision.
For now, EU buyers can build a surround setup with Apple TV 4K and four HomePod mini 2 speakers, run their smart home through them and control it all with classic Siri. Apple has not given a date for Siri AI in the EU.
