iPhone 17e Could Correct Apple’s MagSafe Miss on the iPhone 16e

Apple’s next budget iPhone looks set to fix a major omission. A new report says the iPhone 17e will add MagSafe support, bringing magnetic wireless charging to Apple’s lower-cost lineup. If you skipped the iPhone 16e because it lacked MagSafe, this change directly targets that concern.

You have already seen steady rumors around the iPhone 17e. Those reports point to thinner bezels, a Center Stage front camera, and a Dynamic Island design. Now, MagSafe joins the list, and it stands out because it affects how you charge and use accessories every day.

A Report That Changes Everything

According to a new report from The Information, Apple plans to add magnetic wireless charging to the iPhone 17e. The wording strongly suggests MagSafe support rather than standard Qi charging alone. This marks a clear shift from the iPhone 16e, which supports Qi charging but lacks magnets and MagSafe accessories.

MagSafe battery

With MagSafe, you get better alignment, more stable charging, and access to Apple’s full range of magnetic accessories. Charging speeds should also improve, likely reaching 20W or higher, instead of the slower 7.5W limit on the iPhone 16e.

Apple released the iPhone 16e after discontinuing the iPhone SE. It brought a modern design, a 6.1-inch OLED display, and Apple Intelligence support. Still, the lack of MagSafe frustrated many buyers. You had the power, but not the convenience.

Adding MagSafe fixes that gap. It also makes the iPhone 17e feel less like a compromise and more like a complete iPhone experience at a lower price.

Other Expected Improvements

The same report says the iPhone 17e will use Apple’s second-generation C1X modem. This follows the first C1 modem used in the iPhone 16e. You can expect modest improvements rather than a major redesign.

Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 17e in spring 2026. Pricing remains unclear, but if Apple holds close to the current $599 entry point, this model could become the most appealing budget iPhone yet.
