iPhone: four finishes, and one shared front and back
Apple’s tech specs list iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in four finishes: Black, Silver, Glacier and Burgundy, each on the same aluminum unibody with a Ceramic Shield 2 front and a Ceramic Shield back. The color sits on an enclosure Apple describes as scratch-resistant, but nothing in Apple’s published material states the finish itself can be swapped, refinished or exchanged once a unit ships. iPhone Duo offers only two choices, Night Sky and Star White, on its titanium foldable frame, which Apple’s newsroom confirms is the full color range for the product at launch.

Apple Watch: the color list depends on the material you pick first
On Apple Watch Series 12, color is not an independent choice. It is downstream of the material decision. Aluminum cases come in dark bronze, light gold, black and space gray. Titanium cases come only in radiant gold and natural. The new ceramic case comes only in pearl white and night blue. Choosing ceramic for its size and finish means choosing between exactly two colors, not the eight combinations available if aluminum and titanium palettes are added together. Apple Watch Ultra 4 narrows the decision further still, to natural or black titanium, since it ships in one material and one case size.
Apple’s Product Environmental Report for iPhone 18 Pro lists 40 percent recycled content across the line as a whole, a figure that does not vary by finish. Apple Watch Hermès Series 12 adds a separate layer on top of the standard list: it ships in a radiant gold titanium case with its own Hermès band colors, including the Noir Satin Clou de Selle band and the new Rocabar Club band, a range Apple keeps apart from the aluminum, titanium and ceramic choices above.
The mistake: treating color as the easy choice to make quickly
Because color carries no price difference on any of these three products, it is often the fastest decision on a pre-order form, made in the seconds before the storage and carrier questions. Apple’s own lists show that is backward. The storage tier and the carrier setting can still be revisited within Apple’s general order-change and return terms. The finish on the phone or Watch in hand, chosen from a list that is fixed the moment the order is placed, is the part of the purchase Apple has published no route to undo.

Apple has not published a color-exchange or refinishing program for iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone Duo or Apple Watch Series 12, nor a statement that any finish will be added after launch. Whether trade-in credit varies by color for any of these models is also not published; the trade-in range Apple states, $175 to $885 in the US for an iPhone 13 or later, is tied to the model, not the finish.
