macOS Tahoe 26.2 beta 1 now available for developers

Apple has started the 26.2 cycle for the Mac. Developers can now install macOS Tahoe 26.2 beta 1, while the first public betas for the rest of the platforms have also arrived this week. That means you can test new features on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, and Vision Pro through the public beta channel, and developers can begin testing macOS on the Mac side today.

macOS 26.2 focuses on small but useful improvements. The update builds on Tahoe’s new design and rounds out apps that saw changes earlier this cycle. Expect stability fixes and performance tuning throughout the system alongside the headline tweaks below.

What’s new in macOS Tahoe 26.2 beta 1

Reminders alarms at due time. Reminders gains an option to trigger a system alarm exactly when a task is due. This ties Reminders more closely with time-sensitive to-dos and reduces missed items without extra setup.

Apple News quick links. The News app adds quick links to popular sections, making it faster to jump into topics you read most. Navigation feels lighter and more direct, matching the design refinements seen across 26.x.

Apple Podcasts upgrades. Podcasts adds automatic chapters and timed links that surface related shows and references right in the Now Playing screen and episode pages. Long episodes are easier to skim, and creators can opt out if they prefer manual chapters.

General fixes and polish. Beyond app changes, this build aims to improve reliability and responsiveness across the desktop, continuing the Tahoe push toward smoother animations and fewer background hiccups.

How to get the public beta

  1. Back up your device.
  2. Visit the Apple Beta Software Program site and sign in with your Apple ID.
  3. Enroll your device, then open Software Update and enable Beta Updates to download.

Note: On Mac today, the new build is in the developer channel; public beta availability for macOS 26.2 typically follows.

This is a practical release. You get smarter Podcasts, quicker paths inside News, and tighter Reminders. If you spot any other changes in macOS Tahoe 26.2 beta 1, let us know in the comments.
