Drivers using Apple devices will soon have a new artificial intelligence option on the road. The tech company started supporting conversational apps on Apple CarPlay with the release of iOS 26.4. While the updated Siri AI system will not arrive until iOS 27 officially launches this September, a different major chatbot is showing up early. Drivers can now find the Meta AI app appearing directly on vehicle screens.
The new chatbot joins three other options in limited testing
The latest version of the chatbot app brings a fourth alternative to the car screen. It joins ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Grok as third-party conversational tools that currently work with CarPlay. Getting an app to work in the car before the official Siri update gives users more choices right now.
However, the software is still going through a limited testing phase. Even though the app icon shows up on the display, launching it might not work just yet. Some users are seeing a message stating the experience is not supported for their account. Paying for a premium subscription does not seem to change this error message.

This dashboard integration follows a recent update where Meta brought its chatbot to the Mac. The desktop version offers more features than the mobile app. Once the car version starts working for everyone, it will give drivers another way to get answers and information while keeping their eyes on the road.
Ultimately, the ability to choose between different voice assistants shows the real value of phone projection systems. Built-in car software rarely offers this much flexibility. As the September launch of iOS 27 gets closer, the competition for dashboard AI is clearly heating up.
