OpenAI has launched ChatGPT for Financial Services, a version of ChatGPT Work built for financial institutions. It combines GPT-6 Astra with financial datasets and tools for research, modeling, and client-ready materials.

The product initially targets investment banking and equity research teams. OpenAI says Morgan Stanley and Evercore helped shape the experience. It arrives as the company continues to expand ChatGPT Work and its desktop tools beyond general-purpose business use.

  • Availability: Eligible financial institutions can contact OpenAI sales or their account team. OpenAI has not published pricing.
  • Built-in sources: Daloopa, PitchBook, LSEG News, and Crunchbase are included, with support for other licensed data services.
  • Outputs: Teams can produce research documents, financial models, charts, spreadsheets, presentations, and client materials.

Financial data is built into the workspace

ChatGPT for Financial Services can work with earnings transcripts, financial statements, company fundamentals, and private-company information. OpenAI says answers include granular citations, which should make it easier for analysts to trace a claim back to its source before using it.

Firms can also connect subscriptions and internal systems. OpenAI lists planned or supported integrations with S&P Capital IQ, LSEG, MSCI, Dow Jones Factiva, and Moody’s, along with optimized connections for S&P Global and FactSet. The broader connector catalog includes services such as Datasite, Box, Preqin, and Intapp.

This is separate from the consumer-facing ChatGPT bank connection introduced for budgeting and personal finance. The new product is aimed at institutional workflows, governed company data, and professional deliverables.

GPT-6 Astra handles analysis and deliverables

OpenAI says GPT-6 Astra has been tuned for retrieval, financial reasoning, and artifact generation. In practice, that means a user can move from finding information to analyzing it and building a spreadsheet or presentation without leaving the same workspace.

Administrators can publish approved Excel, Word, and PowerPoint templates, plus firm-wide style guides. That gives teams a way to keep AI-generated output closer to their existing formats instead of rebuilding each document by hand.

OpenAI is pitching enterprise controls

The service uses ChatGPT Enterprise controls including SAML single sign-on, SCIM provisioning, role-based permissions, configurable retention, and exportable compliance logs. OpenAI says business data is encrypted and is not used to train its models by default. The company has also been expanding data-retention options for enterprise customers.

The announcement was shared through OpenAI’s official X account. For now, access is limited to eligible financial institutions, and OpenAI has not announced a self-service launch date.
