People are looking forward to a summer full of software news, but new hardware is also on the way. Reports show Apple is planning to release over fifteen new products before the year ends. Its upcoming lineup includes a couple of fresh tablets. While the most expensive models are sitting out this round, rumors point to a nice screen upgrade for the smallest version and better smart features for the cheapest option. If you need a new iPad, it might be worth the wait.
The smallest tablet gets a nicer screen and a faster chip
The iPad mini has a loyal group of fans, and it is getting a major fix for its screen. Bloomberg reports that the next version will finally use an OLED display. This change should fix the annoying jelly scrolling problem found on older models with LCD screens.
The inside of the device is getting an update, too. The current model uses the A17 Pro chip, but the upcoming mini will likely jump to the A19 chip. Fans might also see better water resistance when it finally hits store shelves.
The standard model receives a new brain for smart features
The standard iPad is also due for a refresh this year. Rumors originally suggested a March release, but the company only put out its Air model at that time. Now, reports say the entry-level tablet will launch later in the year with the A18 chip inside.
This new chip is a big deal because it brings Apple Intelligence to the basic model for the first time. Most other parts of the tablet will probably stay the same. If you are waiting for a new Pro model, you will have to wait longer, as the M5 version is not expected to get an upgrade until 2027.
All I wanted was an upgraded Apple TV and a new IPad Pro with a faster chip in side. Don’t really care about upgrade to the latest operating system.
