Starting today, drivers can use the popular Storm Radar app right from their car screens.
The update puts maps and route alerts on your dashboard
The latest update changes how drivers keep an eye on road conditions. Instead of just showing basic temperature numbers, the new dashboard software gives you a full map of where you are. You can easily switch between a normal map background and a satellite view. The display also has different data layers, which let you see active radar, cloud cover, and rain as you drive.
Navigation is a big part of this new feature. When you plan a trip, the software shows the weather right now along with your estimated arrival time. It also tells you what the climate will look like when you reach your stop. The developers say the new CarPlay support includes automatic route changes and active warnings that refresh while you travel. This means the system will warn you about approaching storms and find a safer path if needed.

This dashboard expansion is part of a larger push by The Weather Channel to improve its tools across all smart devices. Earlier this year, the company added new forecasting features for phones and watches. Now, with version 4.0.19 ready to download on the App Store, people finally have a solid way to avoid bad weather without taking their eyes off the road.
